Tan Sri Yong Poh Kon, 78, a Malaysian, has been appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director of TM effective 30 May 2024. He graduated with First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering from University Adelaide, Australia in 1968.

He is currently the Chairman of Royal Selangor International Sdn Bhd, director of GS1 Malaysia Berhad and a member of Trustee of the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER).

Tan Sri Yong Poh Kon has previously served as board member of Bank Negara Malaysia, Employee Provident Fund (EPF), AYER Holdings Berhad, RAM Holdings Berhad and Nestle Berhad. He was also the former President of the Federation of Malaysia Manufacturer (FMM) and was a member of the Economic Council in the Prime Minister’s Office. In 2007, he was appointed to Co-Chair with the Chief Secretary of Malaysia on PEMUDAH, a Special Task Force to Facilitate Business until September 2013. Previously he was also Chairman at the Board of Trustees of Steinbies Malaysia Foundation and a founder of the Malaysia Mensa Society.

He is also a Member of Board Nomination and Remuneration Committee and Board Risk & Investment Committee.
