Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), the innovation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wins the “Digital-Utilities” Award for its smart workforce management solution known as FORCE at the recent Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2023 (MTEA), organised by the Asian Business Review.

 

This is the seventh award received by TM R&D from MTEA in the last five years, spotlighting its role in accelerating the use of advanced technology and mobile-first approach to spearhead industrial productivity and operational efficiencies as Malaysia transitions into a digital economy.

 

Through cross learnings from deployment within the TM ecosystem, TM R&D’s advanced analytics software in the FORCE platform measures and reports business performance metrics in real-time. This enables fast-paced businesses to make precise data-driven decisions to improve complex tasks scheduling of large fieldwork teams across geographies that in turn, significantly ease resource planning and operational costs.

TM R&D wins prestigious MSC Malaysia APICTA 2018 for the innovation of Smart Safety Helmet

Places TM R&D as the Champion of Research & Development in 2018   TM Research & Development (TM R&D), the research arm and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently won the Cross Category: Research & Development for its innovative Smart Safety Helmet during the 19th MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC Malaysia APICTA) 2018 organised by the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM). Winning this prestigious award places TM R&D as the champion of Research & Development in 2018. In addition, TM R&D  has been selected to represent Malaysia in the Cross Category: Research & Development at the International APICTA Awards 2018 in Guangzhou, China. Present to accept the award was Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D. Developed by TM R&D, Smart Safety Helmet is a data driven smart industrial or safety helmet, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution that provides live, wireless monitoring and array of sensors including accident impact and geolocation which can be used to perform various analysis towards creating a safer worksite. It sends telemetry to the cloud and processes the data for the benefit of the employer as well as the staff. It has all the safety helmet features, location tracking services, attendance, violation detection and a video camera for remote coaching and emergency observation of the workforce. This Smart Safety Helmet innovation is the first Smart Safety Helmet in Malaysia and it is now ready to be deployed for industry players across various sectors such as Oil & Gas, Construction, Chemical & Manufacturing Industry and many more. Commenting on the milestone achievement, Datuk Bazlan Osman, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of TM said, “We are excited and thrilled to know that TM R&D has won the award. Gaining huge interests from large corporations, the Smart Safety Helmet was invited to be featured at the recent 4th Malaysia Oil & Gas Services Exhibition and Conference (MOGSEC) as part of TM’s product showcase. TM calls on members of the public to donate pre-loved devices to the MYBAIKHATI campaign

Three (3) TMpoint outlets in Klang Valley now ready to accept device donations for B40 families Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is supporting MYBAIKHATI, an industry-wide device crowdsourcing initiative aimed to collect and repair used communication devices to be distributed to low income families (B40). TM has set up three (3) of its TMpoint outlets in the Klang Valley as collection points to facilitate the donation drive. The outlets are TM Experience Centre (TMEC) at Menara TM, Bangsar; TMpoint Cyberjaya and TMpoint Shah Alam. The collection points will be progressively expanded nationwide in the near future. Commenting on TM Group's participation, Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: "Everyone should have access to digital devices, especially in these times. The MYBAIKHATI campaign aims to provide the B40 community with usable smart devices for digital learning, work and business, so they have the means to weather through this unprecedented period. TM is excited to be part of this industry-wide initiative as together, we can help to alleviate the burden of the underprivileged and at the same time reduce the digital gap. We have kick-started this year-long donation campaign by setting up three (3) of our TMpoint outlets in the Klang Valley as the designated collection points in this pilot phase; so members of the public who are keen to donate can conveniently drop off their devices. We will definitely explore more locations nationwide to enable more people to take part and make their contribution." Please join us in this collective effort towards enabling a more digital society, digital businesses and ultimately, a Digital Malaysia," he added. TM calls for all Malaysians and members of the public, be it individuals or companies to donate their used devices. TM will repair and refurbish devices that meet the terms and conditions with an allocation of up to RM500 for each device. The refurbished devices will then be distributed to eligible families in the B40 segment, through an appointed Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), or through other various channels including selected "Pusat Internet Komuniti" (PIKs) nationwide. The donated devices that do not meet the requirements of the initiative will be responsibly recycled via the existing e-Waste programme. Telecommunications operators continue to support home-based teaching and learning with free 30GB internet per month

Telcos also providing free WiFi connectivity for students at selected PPR communities and have extended operating hours of Pusat Internet Komuniti PETALING JAYA, 10 FEBRUARY 2021 – Telecommunications operators Celcom Axiata Berhad ("Celcom"), Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd ("Digi"), Maxis Berhad ("Maxis"), U Mobile Sdn Bhd ("U Mobile"), and Telekom Malaysia Berhad ("TM") through unifi Mobile, are continuously supporting the rakyat's learning needs with free 30GB Productivity Internet per month (free 1GB internet daily), for learning and productivity tools as well as for news website browsing until 30 April 2021. Since April 2020, all active Postpaid and Prepaid customers of the respective operators have been able to enjoy 30GB Productivity Internet per month, except for social media, gaming, video and music streaming, over and above customers' monthly data allocation from their existing plans. Customers are advised to refer to their respective operators for more information on how to access the daily free Internet offers and the list of services included. Furthermore, telco operators will continue to support the rakyat at selected People's Housing Projects (PPR) by providing free WiFi and extending operating hours of Pusat Internet Komuniti (PIK) during these challenging times.  A total of 130 PPR and 54 PIK nationwide will focus on supporting students from B40 families with free connectivity that aims to facilitate Home-based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) due to the Movement Control Order (MCO). In addition to the free 30GB internet per month, the operators have also provided a special prepaid data pass for SPM and STPM students, as well as students in higher learning institutions. The prepaid data pass offers 15GB data per month for as low as RM20 per month and the passes are available for eligible students from 6 January 2021 until end of April 2021.    The joint industry initiatives are part of its continuous relief efforts driven together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia as well as the Permai Aid Package as recently announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Telecommunication operators will also continue to offer free and unlimited access to a range of information-related apps and services to ensure Malaysians stay updated on the latest credible news on COVID-19. The list includes MySejahtera and MyTrace apps, and important health websites and hotlines such as the CPRC Hotline, Ministry of Health and World Health Organization websites, and more.
