TM BAGS TOP TECH AWARD FOR ITS DIGITAL WORKFORCE SOLUTION
Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), the innovation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wins the “Digital-Utilities” Award for its smart workforce management solution known as FORCE at the recent Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards 2023 (MTEA), organised by the Asian Business Review.
This is the seventh award received by TM R&D from MTEA in the last five years, spotlighting its role in accelerating the use of advanced technology and mobile-first approach to spearhead industrial productivity and operational efficiencies as Malaysia transitions into a digital economy.
Through cross learnings from deployment within the TM ecosystem, TM R&D’s advanced analytics software in the FORCE platform measures and reports business performance metrics in real-time. This enables fast-paced businesses to make precise data-driven decisions to improve complex tasks scheduling of large fieldwork teams across geographies that in turn, significantly ease resource planning and operational costs.

Nurturing future digital leaders through YTM Future Skills Champion Schools
Enhances its adopted schools programme to be more holistic by embedding digital technology and leadership skills TM, through Yayasan TM (YTM), recognises the need to equip the next generation with the digital and technology skills required for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). In view of this, in 2014, YTM began its Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) oriented programmes, such as robotics, 3D modelling, coding, and big data analytics, to promote those subjects amongst students and education communities at schools nationwide. In 2020, the modules were conslidated into TM Future Skills (TMFS) programme, with the aim of making it more comprehensive and beneficial to the intended participants. The programme was tailored to the syllabus outlined by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and covered the nine (9) pillars of the IR4.0. It has been receiving positive feedback from the teachers and students involved and more schools have requested to be part of the programme. Supporting MOE’s aspiration for digital education transformation, YTM continues to spread the positive impact of TMFS in a more structured approach. Towards this end, the foundation has embarked on TM Future Skills Champion School (TMFS School) initiative, as a continuation of the TM School Adoption Programme with enhanced contents. TMFS Schools foster future digital skills by embracing digital technology in its classroom activities where leadership, design thinking and cognitive abilities were emphasised to prepare the students for future employment. SMK Gunung Semanggol (SMKGS) in Perak, with more than 90% of its students from B40 families, was selected as the first TMFS School, aligned with YTM’s aspiration to assist B40 students in rural areas. To further facilitate the initiative, YTM is establishing TMFS Digital Hub at TMFS Schools where the schools will be equipped with a PocketLab, robotics set, 3D printer, smart TV, desktop, and digital learning content to gain more interest from its students as well as the neighbouring schools. "SMK Gunung Semanggol was identified based on its active involvement in various STEM initiatives, including previous TMFS programmes. The school also has passionate and dedicated teachers, where they adopt integrated and innovative approach for more in-depth understanding of the modules among the students. With such exposure and capabilities, we are confident that SMK Gunung Semanggol is able to play the role as a hub to spread the digital technology knowledge to more students and teachers including at the five (5) neighbouring schools, and approximately over 20 secondary schools in the Kerian district," said Izlyn Ramli, Director of YTM, during the launching ceremony of TMFS School in November 2022. Throughout this three-year programme, YTM, together with its strategic partner, Creative Minds, will work with Multimedia University (MMU), Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM), TM Perak, and other YTM's partners to design and deliver engaging programmes providing the tools and support for students in rural schools to flourish. "We are also happy to see that SMK Gunung Semanggol promotes the development of other skills, such as urban farming and entrepreneurship, to empower the local communities sustainably. So as we continue to identify more potential schools in more states of Malaysia, we hope this programme will unearth more talented students towards building a competitive and sustainable community in the future," she added. Salmah Iman, the Principal of SMK Gunung Semanggol, expressed her enthusiasm, "We feel honoured and privileged to be chosen as the first TMFS School in the Northern Zone and Malaysia. We are excited and look forward to share the positive impact of this programme with the nearby schools. As we are committed to ensuring that this programme achieves its goals, we are also confident that YTM's support and assistance will help these students be prepared for future employment and enhance their standard of living." At the event, Bakri Arsad, Chief Assistant Director of Mathematics and Science, Learning Sector, Perak State Education Department, said, "We welcome such initiatives through collaboration with the private sector, especially for rural schools that need exposure to digital technology. These programmes will inspire students to explore their potential beyond academics and increase the number of students choosing STEM-related fields." During the launch, guests had the opportunity to visit the Pusat Sumber Sekolah Pendeta Za'aba and experience content and materials created by the students based on specific themes including unique handicrafts and martial arts performances. Guests toured the school's urban farm, where they sampled delicious cuisine prepared by students from the special education class using produce from the farm. SMK Gunung Semanggol provided a wonderful ambience of positive vibes that attract students' engagement and boosted their creativity. To date, STEM-related programmes by YTM, including TMFS, have benefited over 15,000 students and teachers from over 500 schools across the country. With the support and assistance of various interested partners, we hope this initiative will spark students' interest in pursuing their tertiary studies in technology and digital fields and equip the young generation with future-proof skills relevant to the future workforce.
TM collaborates with 14 financial institutions to establish Vendor Financing Programme
PERINTIS Launched to Empower Local SME Vendors; Boost Growth of Businesses Towards Ensuring Sustainability PERINTIS to provide comprehensive and flexible financing facility as well as consultation for TM local SME vendors TM committed to strengthen its vendor ecosystem and accelerate vendor transformation through continuous upskilling and development programmes TM continues to support and develop local entrepreneurs especially in the new and emerging economy supporting Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) towards ensuring their sustainability and growth As part of its nation building effort towards ensuring the sustainability of local vendors, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today announced its collaboration with selected financial institutions to embark on a TM Vendor Financing Programme called "PERINTIS". The programme will see the involvement of 14 financial institutions providing financing facilities and consultations for TM local SME vendors. The institutions are Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad, Maybank Islamic Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad, RHB Islamic Bank Berhad, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd, HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad, Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad, Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad, PMB Tijari Berhad, Bay Group Holdings Sdn Bhd, Commerze Capital Sdn Bhd and El-Nuwr Capital Sdn Bhd. To signify the collaboration for the PERINTIS programme, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between TM and all the 14 institutions. Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM signed the MoU on behalf of TM while the participating financial institutions were represented by their respective heads. The signing ceremony was witnessed by YB Dato' Sri Dr. Hj. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, accompanied by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM. Also present at the event were Dato' Sri Haji Mohammad Mentek, Secretary General of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives and his Deputy, Datuk Haji Zamri Salleh, Deputy Secretary General of Entrepreneur Development. Commenting on the collaboration, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke said: "TM is committed to continuously strengthen our vendor ecosystem through upskilling and development programmes. The programmes are aimed at boosting the growth of the vendors towards ensuring their sustainability, while at the same time upholding integrity in all activities undertaken. This PERINTIS programme was initiated to provide TM's local SME vendors with flexible financial support and convenience towards enhancing their capabilities and viability. It is also in line with the Government's efforts to promote vendors' business viability and to create employment opportunities in the country." "Our vendors are our strategic business partners and they play a pivotal role in our business operations. With their undivided support, TM is on the right path to deliver more innovative digital products and solutions to all our customers; preparing them with the right foundation for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0)," he added. PERINTIS: Providing comprehensive and flexible financing facilities towards building the capacity and capability of its vendors The PERINTIS programme will provide TM vendors with added convenience through various financing facilities and financial advisory. Under this programme, TM vendors will enjoy comprehensive financing packages across all levels and sizes of business including those with sub-contractors; with the value of up to RM10 million, depending on the number of contracts obtained from TM. The offering will start from the stage of preparation of equipment and requirements to obtain a contract from TM. The disbursement processes will also be expedited to ensure that the vendors are viable and are able to support the business. In addition, the programme offers accelerated loan approval, made possible through a cooperation between the financial institutions and a credit guarantor which acts as a guarantor based on the Risk Acceptance Criteria and Eligibility Criteria agreed with the participating financial institutions. Being at the frontier of each telecommunication technology evolution of the nation, TM remains steadfast to support and develop local entrepreneurs, particularly Bumiputera vendors to accelerate the Digital Malaysia's aspirations.
TNB–TM EXPAND GREEN ENERGY AND DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CUSTOMER BENEFIT
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Telekom Malaysia (TM) announced a strategic collaboration to strengthen cooperation in green energy solutions while developing smarter, more sustainable, and interconnected energy and telecommunications infrastructure across the country.The exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) documents took place on 9 March, aiming to combine the green energy and digital expertise of both companies, in line with the aspirations of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the nation’s digital transformation agenda. The collaboration focuses on sustainable energy solutions, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence (AI) for the direct benefit of customers.TNB–TM Collaboration Expands Solar, EV and Integrated Digital SolutionsTNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul Ahmad said, “As an initial implementation of this collaboration, we are assessing the potential installation of solar systems at up to 150 TM premises, while targeting the expansion of solar installations to more residential Unifi Home customers annually. Through GSPARX, solar system packages will continue to be enhanced to provide greater value to consumers. In addition, the expansion of electric vehicle (EV) charging station networks is also being planned under this collaboration.“With the expansion of EV charging infrastructure, users will have greater access to convenient charging locations, enhancing both convenience and the overall user experience. TNB also remains committed to supporting NETR to increase the adoption of renewable energy and strengthen the nation’s transition towards net-zero emissions by 2050,” he said.TM Group Chief Executive Officer, Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said, “TM and TNB represent two pillars of Malaysia’s critical infrastructure, and this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to strengthening the nation’s energy and digital ecosystems in a sustainable and future-ready manner. By leveraging digital technologies, these initiatives aim to enable more efficient energy management while encouraging greater adoption of green energy.Advancing Digital Technology:TM and TNB will explore collaboration in digital technology and innovation as part of their joint efforts to strengthen organisational digital capabilities. These initiatives aim to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and support the development of a more sustainable and resilient digital ecosystem.Strategic ICT Sourcing:Both companies will evaluate more structured approaches to sourcing existing ICT services while ensuring better price alignment to enhance overall competitiveness. This initiative aims to strengthen the supply chain, optimise costs, and enhance long-term digital readiness. Benefits to CustomersUnder this collaboration, customers will benefit from reduced operational costs, access to EV charging facilities at selected locations, and the use of smart digital systems and AI-driven analytics to monitor energy consumption. These capabilities will enable earlier detection of disruptions and faster power restoration, ultimately enhancing the overall customer experience.The relationship between TNB and TM has long been established, including communications network support to major substations, SMS services, and cloud contact centre services, as well as collaboration in green energy programmes.As of 31 December 2025, GSPARX, which was officially established in January 2018, has successfully secured more than 530 megawatts (MW) of rooftop solar projects, supporting renewable energy adoption across more than 3,000 residential and commercial premises. In addition, TNB has deployed approximately 256 EV charging stations nationwide under the TNB Electron brand, providing grid facilities and electrical support for charging operations. These efforts further reinforce TNB’s commitment to delivering integrated and sustainable energy solutions to customers.
