TM LEADS IN TRUSTED AI AS MALAYSIA’S FIRST TELCO CERTIFIED WITH ISO/IEC 42001:2023
KUALA LUMPUR, 27 March 2026 – TM has obtained the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) certification, becoming the first telecommunications company in Malaysia to meet this standard.
The certification, achieved through its Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AI COE) and independently validated by SIRIM QAS International, indicates that TM’s AI systems are developed and deployed with rigorous governance, ethical safeguards, and robust risk management. This supports TM’s role as a reliable digital infrastructure and solutions partner providing trusted foundation for organisations to build new AI-driven solutions within clear, auditable guidelines.

TM R&D wins prestigious MSC Malaysia APICTA 2018 for the innovation of Smart Safety Helmet
Places TM R&D as the Champion of Research & Development in 2018 TM Research & Development (TM R&D), the research arm and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently won the Cross Category: Research & Development for its innovative Smart Safety Helmet during the 19th MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC Malaysia APICTA) 2018 organised by the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM). Winning this prestigious award places TM R&D as the champion of Research & Development in 2018. In addition, TM R&D has been selected to represent Malaysia in the Cross Category: Research & Development at the International APICTA Awards 2018 in Guangzhou, China. Present to accept the award was Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D. Developed by TM R&D, Smart Safety Helmet is a data driven smart industrial or safety helmet, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution that provides live, wireless monitoring and array of sensors including accident impact and geolocation which can be used to perform various analysis towards creating a safer worksite. It sends telemetry to the cloud and processes the data for the benefit of the employer as well as the staff. It has all the safety helmet features, location tracking services, attendance, violation detection and a video camera for remote coaching and emergency observation of the workforce. This Smart Safety Helmet innovation is the first Smart Safety Helmet in Malaysia and it is now ready to be deployed for industry players across various sectors such as Oil & Gas, Construction, Chemical & Manufacturing Industry and many more. Commenting on the milestone achievement, Datuk Bazlan Osman, Acting Group Chief Executive Officer of TM said, “We are excited and thrilled to know that TM R&D has won the award. TM Inks MOU With ZTE For R&D Innovation Under Latest Strategic Partnership Programme
TM, Malaysia’s leading converged telco and technology company, has today entered into a MoU with ZTE Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd (ZTE), a global leader in information and communication technology solutions, to collaborate on a range of research and development innovations under its latest strategic partnership programme. The partnership will leverage TM and ZTE’s joint expertise to drive innovation and digital transformation for customers and industries, focusing on R&D opportunities and commercialisation, product and technology improvement, and the enhancement of TM’s digital talent ecosystem. The collaboration will also serve as an important step towards strengthening the nation’s digital and telco infrastructure, and empower Malaysia’s competitive edge in delivering cutting-edge solutions to the marketplace. Slated to run for a period of three years, the MoU was presided over by YB Fahmi Fadzil, Minister for Communications and Digital; YB Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital; Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Bin Fateh Din, Chairman; and Dato’ Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus, Chief Operating Officer for the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission respectively. The MOU was signed by TM’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Imri Mokhtar and ZTE’s Managing Director, Mr. Steven Ge. Building on TM and ZTE’s ongoing investments and commitment to R&D and innovation, the partnership aims to deliver new products and services, with TM serving as ZTE’s preferred business partner to deploy innovative solutions, go-to-market strategies, commercialisation, and networking across various markets and customer segments in Malaysia and regionally. The companies will also work on network and technology planning and overall digital transformation by bringing together Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Anything as a Service (XaaS) providers to develop customised end-to-end solutions for various industry sectors. Aside from technological developments and aligning with TM’s transformation as a human-centred TechCo, the collaboration will focus on enhancing TM's digital talent ecosystem, covering areas such as talent competency best practices, professional competency framework, technical training and certifications for digital transformation, as well as cross-border knowledge sharing on new technologies. A Golden Tribute for SEA Games Sepak Takraw Champions
KUALA LUMPUR, 11 February 2026 – The Persekutuan Sepaktakraw Malaysia (PSM), together with its Official Partner Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), recently honoured the National Sepak Takraw Squad following their historic performance at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, at an appreciation ceremony held at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL). The occasion was marked by the presentation of an exclusive, one-of-a-kind 999.9 commemorative gold coin by TM to each SEA Games gold medallist, symbolising TM’s pride in having supported the national squad’s journey to the top of the podium.The national squad delivered a proud milestone for Malaysian sport, securing two gold medals and three bronze medals, including a long-awaited victory in the Men’s Team Regu event - reclaiming the gold after 34 years. This reflects years of commitment, discipline and perseverance within the team, backed by support from TM as the Official Partner of the national squad.The appreciation ceremony brought together players, coaches, and officials to acknowledge not only the medals won, but the collective journey behind the success. In addition to the commemorative gold coins presented to gold medallists, TM also presented TM-PSM limited-edition jackets to the wider squad, coaches and PSM officials.The PSM President, Dato’ Mohd Sumali Reduan said the SEA Games success marked a renewed confidence and chapter for the sport. “Ending a 34-year wait for gold is deeply meaningful for the sport and for the country, and is the result of years of hard work, sacrifice and belief by our athletes and coaches.
