TM One Smart Healthcare solutions to enhance digital patient experience at Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care
Malaysia’s first healthcare provider to leverage TM One Smart Patient Suite solution
TM One, the enterprise and government sector solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (“RSDH”) to collaborate on Smart Healthcare and other business solutions for the RSDH group of hospitals.
The MoU was signed by Shazurawati Abd Karim, Executive Vice President of TM One, and Peter Hong, Group Chief Executive Officer, RSDH.
Aimed at improving patient experience and enabling innovative transformation for essential in-patient services, the collaboration marks the first in Malaysia to leverage TM One’s Smart Patient Suite solution, by harnessing the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) to provide automation and surround control.

TM One’s Smart Patient Suite, under its Smart Healthcare solutions, enables users to customise their in-patient environment for a more positive patient care experience.”
Peter Hong, Group Chief Executive Officer, RSDH, said, "We are pleased to mark a milestone with this collaboration, as ParkCity Medical Centre will be the first hospital under the Group to pilot TM One’s Smart Patient Suite solution. TM One is also looking into the co-creation of smart solutions that will offer predictive and preventive intervention, as well as improve monitoring and medication adherence. Wellness wearables, for example, will allow high-risk patients who have received care at medical facilities to transition as outpatients quicker and continue self-monitoring in the comfort of their homes, with healthcare professionals leveraging real-time analytics for patient care administration.
“Technology is reshaping the relationship between patients, healthcare providers, and the healthcare system, enabling us to move towards patient-centric, prevention-focused and outcome-driven healthcare. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), will empower healthcare providers with data and analytics to improve the quality of patient care while maximising operational efficiency,” added Shazurawati.
This two-year collaboration with RSDH follows the launch of TM One’s Sphere Programme, which brings together Malaysia’s leading technology and smart solution partners to create an ecosystem that will help springboard enterprise and government sector innovative transformation. Since its launch in October 2022, the alliance has registered close to 50 partners.

TM One Smart City Summit 2022: accelerating the transformation of townships into smart cities through partnership with local authorities
Themed ‘Solutions Built for Citizens’, TM ONE City LEAP Summit is TM’s initiative to support the Ministry of Housing and Local Government's (KPKT) aspirations in strengthening the ‘Liveable Malaysia’ agenda TM ONE, the enterprise and public sector business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently hosted the City LEAP Summit 2022, with the aim of boosting smart city execution by local city and municipal councils (PBT). The two-day event, held in Genting Highlands, was the second time the summit was organised, and was attended by a total of 60 participants from 26 PBTs nationwide. Held under the theme of ‘Solutions Built for Citizens’, the summit, which focuses on sustainability and improving the quality of life for citizens, constitutes one of TM ONE’s initiatives to take Malaysia’s Smart City transformation forward by supporting the Ministry of Housing and Local Government's (KPKT) aspirations for a “Liveable Malaysia”. Lined up were curated programmes, aimed at empowering collaboration amongst local authorities to adopt new global trends and accelerate the implementation of smart cities in their respective localities. This event builds on the first City LEAP Summit in 2020, held in Langkawi, prior to the COVID-19 Movement Control Order (MCO). The inaugural event, among others, featured demonstrations of 11 Smart Services use cases on the island managed live from the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC). The 2022 summit was attended by Kamaruzaman Umar, Deputy Secretary General of KPKT who represented YB Dato' Sri Reezal Merican Naina Merican, the Minister of Housing and Local Government, together with several key representatives from the ministry and government bodies including the State Secretary’s Offices (SUK) and State Economic Planning Units (UPEN) from various states. This year's City LEAP Summit provided insights into best practices as well as use cases of effective planning and execution of a smart city with talks by Bapak Setiaji, Chief of Digital Transformation Office, Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia who previously was the Head of Jakarta Smart City; and multi-award winning Smart Cities and IoT industry expert, Dr. Mazlan Abbas, who is also co-founder and CEO of FAVORIOT Sdn. Bhd. In addition, the event featured two comprehensive knowledge sharing sessions by Md Farabi Yussoff Md Yussoff, Head of Smart City Unit from PLANMalaysia (Federal Department of Town and Country Planning), and Mohamad Rejab Sulaiman, Vice President, Product & Innovation of TM ONE. They shared their expertise in the smart city standard benchmarks, integrated digital solutions and end-to-end technology for smart cities. In welcoming the delegates, Ir. Ts. Azizi A. Hadi, Chief Operating Officer of TM, said: “The development of a planned, integrated and holistic smart city is both timely and important. It helps to ensure that Malaysia is always in line with the current global urban development. Urban development extends beyond just making the city smarter; we must also ensure that the city leverages technology innovatively and creatively to provide a more liveable Malaysia.” He reiterated that with existing assets of the TM Group, including the widest broadband network infrastructure, submarine cables, telecommunication towers, cloud computing, data centres and cybersecurity, TM One is primed to provide world-class services and more effective solutions to local authorities. Besides that, with its services and solutions aligned with the objectives of the Malaysia Smart City Framework (MSCF), TM One is well positioned to assist PBTs in achieving most of the Smart City standard indicators (ISO 37122:2019). In his opening speech, Kamaruzaman said: “The success of a smart city lies in its implementation and requires coordinated efforts across three layers within the government; namely federal, state and local governments. Nevertheless, the participation of the private sector and industry players are equally important in the smart city ecosystem.” He also highlighted that public-private partnership is one of the most effective platforms to advance smart city implementation, and closer collaboration is needed between all relevant parties to accelerate smart city development in the country. Commenting on the summit, Shazurawati Abd Karim, Executive Vice President of TM One said: “Through this event, we aspire to produce a clear human-centred technology Smart City action plan that can be implemented and driven together between PBTs and TM One this year and beyond. We are passionate and ready to co-create a more comprehensive suite of smart city solutions, providing the best services to the people, supporting the business community while achieving environmental sustainability.” Other highlights of the City LEAP Summit 2022 include: TM One Smart City Solutions showcase throughout the summit including Smart Parking (SPARKS), Smart Street Light System (SLIMS), Smart Surveillance, Smart Water Management, Smart City Dashboard, Fleet Management System (FMS), and many more. The delegates also experienced these end-to-end smart city management and professional services through a mobile app, created specifically for this year’s programme. The Smart City Clinic, where subject matter experts and technologists from TM One had one-to-one sessions with the local authorities to delve into digital transformation action plans and solutions best suited to the needs of their city and community. During the opening ceremony, Kamaruzaman and all delegates also witnessed the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) and TM One for three services - Smart Traffic Analytics & Recognition System (STARS), Mobile Field Workforce (FORCE) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). In addition to executing the solutions, TM One will also provide professional and managed services to reduce the challenges encountered by MBI. TM supports 5G deployment in Langkawi with its Integrated Operations Command Centre
Deployed the Region’s First Stand Alone (SA) Dedicated 5G network Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is fully supportive of the 5G Demonstration Project (5GDP) currently undertaken by Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The Company has already embarked on a total of 11 use cases in Langkawi and deployed the operations of an Integrated Operations Command Centre (IOCC) which is at the heart of 5G implementation in Langkawi. The IOCC, or also known as 5G Command Centre (5GCC), which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, is an integrated command centre where the data feed and dashboard monitoring of TM 5G network and use cases in Langkawi are centralised. This 5GDP is recording a number of firsts for TM and the country: The first Telco to deploy SA dedicated 5G network in the country and in the region. The first telco in the region to update our Radio Access Network (RAN) and devices with SA dedicated 5G network. The first Telco in the country to achieve 1.5Gbps for 5G speed tests conducted within its 5G use cases sites. Langkawi is the first Smart Tourism Island in the world equipped with 5G Dato’ Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: “We fully support MCMC’s 5GDP and we are currently testing the implementation of a converged 5G core network which allows co-existence of Non-Stand Alone (NSA) (5G enabled on current 4G network) and Stand Alone (SA) dedicated 5G network in Langkawi. SA is the future of the 5G network deployment and this demonstration is crucial to fast track 5G implementation in the country. With the implementation of the SA network in Langkawi for the 5GDP, TM is the first Telco that has deployed the first SA dedicated 5G network in the country and in the region. We are also proud to note that 5G speed tests conducted within TM’s 5G use cases sites have achieved up to 1.5Gbps. I’m also pleased to update that TM is the first telco in the region to update our Radio Access Network (RAN) and devices with SA dedicated 5G network.” “For 5GDP in Langkawi, we have deployed the highest number of 5G use cases among the participating telcos and all the 5G network and use cases sites can be monitored via the dashboard at the 5GCC, where our expert, qualified technical team works 24/7 to monitor the operations. It is also linked to the local authorities and emergency response services which allow for the communities as well as tourists to experience a smarter, safer living. In addition, we open the 5GCC for all other Service Providers to deploy their monitoring dashboards so all relevant data can be centralised for collective insights.” Currently, the 5GCC houses the dashboard for the following use cases: Smart Traffic Light Smart Parking Smart Safety and Security Solutions Langkawi Smart Tourism Dashboard (Smart Tourism App and UNESCO 8K VR) Gerbang Langkawi Platform (for Smart Water Management System, Smart Vehicle System, Smart Retail Analytics, Smart Safety Helmet and Geolocation People Safety Solutions) Backed up by analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and data-driven insights, the 5GCC is furnished with advanced integrated security features to serve as a security monitoring centre through closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras being installed at hotspots on the island. It is also equipped with face and vehicle recognition system that will assist authorities in public safety and surveillance as well as with criminal investigation, crime prevention and citizen protection. It also monitors weather sensors, tsunami alarms, wind speed systems that have been installed at TM’s designated 5G use cases sites in Kuah and Cenang. The control centre empowers local agencies in promoting tourism safety and attractions effectively, unravelling businesses growth opportunities for the local and providing a safer and smarter crowd control for tourists that will help drive forward Langkawi as a Smart Tourism Island. The monitoring dashboards provides real-time data and consolidated information from all the use cases, for example traffic, parking and security conditions of the 5G use cases areas in Kuah and Pantai Cenang, water consumption level, retail footfall and customer emotions data, number of incidents and alerts, among others. In addition, the authorities can receive alerts and notifications, such as distress calls and response via a panic button from the closed circuit television (CCTV) poles deployed with the smart safety and security solution, or alerts during emergencies e.g. accidents at the workplace, missing individuals, detection of unhappy customers at retail outlets and detection of dangerous driving. These alerts enable the authorities to mobilise resources swiftly during any undesirable incidents or emergency situations, thereby improving their ability to react and respond to the Rakyat's needs in a timely manner for any emergencies. “As the national telecommunications infrastructure provider of Malaysia’s Digital Nation aspirations, we are honoured to be given the opportunity to establish this 5GCC which demonstrates our expertise and capabilities in delivering 5G services to Malaysians nationwide.
