Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) was recently awarded the Special Kincentric COVID Resilience Award Malaysia at the Kincentric Best Employers Malaysia 2020 Learning Conference and Award Ceremony which was held virtually.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, people and organisations face unprecedented new challenges. The special awards recognise companies that have been actively managing the employee experience in the rapidly unfolding COVID-19 crisis; especially for those in critical functions ensuring business continuity and recovery. The judging criteria is based on key themes of Senior Leadership/communication, virtual work effectiveness, concern and engagement on employee wellness; supported by people practices.
Badrul Hisham Ahmad, Vice President, Support Business TM who is also the Chairman of TM's COVID-19 Crisis Response Team (CRT) virtually received the award on behalf of TM. He was also one of the panelists in the sharing session among the winners of the COVID Resilience Award.

The Group recorded a 14.5% growth in Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT), reaching RM1.26 billion compared to RM1.10 billion in the same period last year, driven by continued focus on enhancing operational efficiency and effective cost management. Meanwhile, TM’s operating revenue for 1H 2024 remained steady at RM5.74 billion, reflecting consistent performance. Profit after Tax and Non-Controlling Interests (PATAMI) in 1H 2024 decreased by 8.6% to RM821.2 million due to a one-off tax credit in 2023. Nevertheless, the Group’s fundamentals remained strong and continued to underpin its growth trajectory. In line with this, TM has declared a higher interim dividend of 12.5 sen per share, amounting to RM479.7 million, an increase from 9.5 sen per share interim dividend declared in the previous year. Its comprehensive suite of convergence offerings provides a seamless experience that meets the diverse needs of digital consumers. As a result, we have seen growth in our customer base, strengthening TM’s position as Malaysia’s true convergence champion. “We are also advancing Malaysia’s digital infrastructure through the development of the Next Generation Emergency Services 999 (NG999) in collaboration with various Government agencies. Leveraging advanced technologies such as data analytics and AI, this initiative will significantly improve the nation’s emergency response capabilities in replacement of the existing MERS999. “We proactively explore new business opportunities through strategic partnerships such as the recent collaboration with Singtel’s Nxera to build a sustainable, hyperconnected AI-ready mega data centre in Johor. Capital expenditure (CAPEX) in 1H 2024 amounted to RM460 million, representing 8.0% of total revenue. Lines of Businesses (LOBs) Performance Unifi Maintains Leadership in Converged Services Unifi recorded a 1.2% increase in fixed broadband subscribers, reaching 3.143 million in 1H 2024, supported by customer acquisition and retention strategies. Unifi also gained positive traction with its latest mobile proposition and will continue improving and adapting its mobile offerings to better meet customer needs. During the period, TM One launched the Innovation Lab and Enterprise 5G Lab, collaborative spaces designed to accelerate the realisation of emerging digital services and solutions such as Enterprise 5G and AI-powered industry solutions for both enterprises and government sectors. Additionally, TM One introduced Cybershield Simulation, a cybersecurity product that simulates real-life cyber-attack scenarios, helping organisations enhance their cybersecurity preparedness. On top the NG999 initiative, it has also recently successfully deployed a Private 5G network at PETRONAS LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak in collaboration with the national oil and gas company, – signalling further advancements in connectivity and efficiency for the energy industry. TM Global Strengthens Malaysia’s Position as a Digital Hub for the Region TM Global delivered a steady performance in 1H 2024, with a 0.6% revenue increase to RM1.49 billion, driven by higher revenues from managed wavelength and domestic data. TM Global is expanding its digital infrastructure, including international connectivity and data centre services, to meet the global carriers and hyperscalers’ demands. Key initiatives include the development of a mega data centre in Johor in partnership with Singtel’s Nxera, as well as expansion of its existing Klang Valley Data Centre (KVDC) and Iskandar Puteri Data Centre (IPDC). It has also made progress in deploying extensive 4G and 5G backhaul sites nationwide and increasing high-speed broadband access in Malaysia, in supporting digital inclusivity across the nation. Employees of TM at Menara TM One, Damansara and Kepayan, Kota Kinabalu tested positive for Covid-19
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) confirms two (2) positive cases of Covid-19 amongst its employees. One of the affected employees is based at Menara TM One in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur and the other is at its Kepayan office in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Both employees are currently under quarantine and receiving treatment at Government quarantine and medical facilities. TM management and staff are together praying for their speedy recovery. TM has taken proactive measures to mitigate further spread of the virus and keep our customers, staff and communities safe. At Menara TM One, all occupants were immediately evacuated and the office building closed for seven (7) days to facilitate thorough disinfection and sanitisation in accordance to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health (MoH). TM offices in Sabah, Kedah and other Red Zone areas had been closed much earlier as proactive precaution in correspondence to the increasing cases recently. Following these two new positive cases, detailed contact tracing is being carried out by the MoH, assisted by TM's COVID-19 Crisis Response Team (CRT), to identify and inform those whom had close contact with the affected employees. Identified close contacts are being contacted by MoH for further advice and action. In ensuring continued services to our customers, TM employees at the affected states and areas have reverted back to Work From Home (WFH) arrangement utilising digital channels and online productivity tools. Meanwhile, critical function employees (contact centre, field teams for service installation and restoration) shall continue working in compliance to Government and TM's added safety protocols and guidelines. TM would like to remind everyone at all times to keep safe social distance, hygiene and adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as advised by the Government. TM has taken and will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of our customers, employees and community.

TM reinforces commitment for employee welfare & safety; signs new Collective Agreement with NUTE for 2022-2024
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) signed its twelfth (12th) Collective Agreement (CA) last week, on 24 August 2022, with the National Union of Telecommunications Employees (NUTE) for the period of 2022-2024. Consecutively, the CA was also signed between NUTE and TM's subsidiaries, namely Telekom Sales & Services Sdn Bhd, TM Info-Media Sdn Bhd, GITN Sdn Bhd and TM R&D Sdn Bhd. About 8,000 non-executive employees in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan were covered by this CA. It includes employment enhancements for various terms and conditions, including salary adjustment and cost of living allowances among others. It is also aimed to enhance and boost employees’ productivity and work performance. Representing TM Group for the CA signing was Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer and Sarinah Abu Bakar, Chief Human Capital Officer while NUTE was represented by its President, Mohd Jafar Abd Majid, and Mohamad Farid Mohamad Daud, General Secretary of NUTE. The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Tan Sri Mohammed Azlan Hashim, Chairman of TM. “The new CA demonstrates TM’s unwavering commitment and strong industrial partnership with NUTE towards the well-being of our employees.
