KUALA LUMPUR, 2 MAY 2025 – Unifi Mobile is offering free prepaid SIM cards to 32,500 pilgrims as well as Tabung Haji staff and volunteers for the 2025 Hajj season. This initiative is part of the Sahabat Korporat TH 2025 programme, through which TM supports Tabung Haji via connectivity and digital value-added services for this year’s hajj pilgrims.

With this programme, those performing the Hajj in 2025 are eligible to receive the Unifi Mobile Prepaid SIM card as part of its Middle East Pass offering. These cards were distributed at various Hajj courses and engagement events organised by Tabung Haji, prior to the Hajj season. The Prepaid SIM card can be self-registered through the Unifi UniVerse app available in Google Play or App Store.

Anand Vijayan, Unifi’s Chief Business and Consumer Officer said, “TM has supported Tabung Haji since 1995, providing services and other benefits as part of the Sahabat Korporat TH programme. This initiative aligns with our aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, to enrich lives and communities through technology, ensuring seamless and affordable connectivity for our Hajj pilgrims while they are abroad.”

“Providing one of the most affordable prepaid plans in the market, we are offering unlimited roaming data passes that can be bought before they leave for Hajj.” he added.

Unifi Mobile’s customised Middle East Pass offering will include various unlimited data plans for customers to choose from to suit their connectivity needs while performing Hajj, ranging from 1-day pass priced at RM15 to 45-day pass priced at RM125.

TM’S PAKEJ PERPADUAN JALUR LEBAR TETAP (HOME INTERNET) AIMS TO DRIVE DIGITAL INCLUSIVITY FOR MALAYSIANS

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has today announced the launch of its Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap (Home Internet) for underserved communities in Malaysia, in response to the challenges faced by these key communities in the digital age. The offering is aligned with the Ministry of Communications and Digital’s efforts to address concerns of underserved Malaysians from the B40, the elderly, OKU, and army-police veterans in accessing reliable and affordable internet services.   Following Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Fahmi Fadzil’s announcement today during the launching ceremony in Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani, Kedah, Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap is now available for subscription nationwide. This collaboration between TM and the Government demonstrates the shared commitment to deliver digital inclusivity throughout Malaysia.   Underserved communities often experience adversity in accessing the benefits of the digital world and uninterrupted connectivity. Students from low-income households, for example, face challenges in accessing online learning platforms, while job seekers may struggle to find employment opportunities or even in starting up small e-Commerce businesses to support their livelihoods. Additionally, a lack of access to digital services and information can limit options for essential services, such as healthcare and Government services. Via this offering, TM seeks to bridge the digital divide through hyperconnectivity and empower these communities with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in the digital age.   “As a conscientious corporate entity, TM has a social responsibility to create a meaningful impact on the community. Unifi’s fixed broadband services will be available at a more affordable rate, ensuring that more Malaysians have access to reliable internet connectivity. Registration is open until 31 December 2023 for all eligible subscribers, but will be limited to only one (1) package per person.   Earlier in March, TM also announced Pakej Perpaduan Prabayar Mudah Alih (Prepaid Mobile) and together, these services will enable ubiquitous connectivity and reinforces TM’s fixed-mobile convergence leadership, offering integrated fixed broadband, mobile services, and digital content to more Malaysians. TM Committed For Success Of TVET Madani

Following the official launch of ‘Portal TVET Madani’ and the exchange of Memorandum of Collaboration with the Government today, TM has reaffirmed its commitment to the success of TVET Madani through its tailored vocational education modules along with RM3.5 million contribution for training facilities and scholarship.   TM is presently in the final stage of discussions with several TVET institutions to form partnerships that will help transform these institutions into industry-ready technical development centres, towards enhancing the employability of their graduates.   This will be achieved through the introduction of industry-relevant modules on fibre networks and digital skillsets, the certification of trainers aligning to industry standards, as well as examinations for student certification.   The company plans to develop highly qualified and experienced instructors among its partner institutions to provide expert guidance, especially for B40 students, throughout their vocational journey, and to offer mentorship and support to help them succeed.   TM also plans to equip its partner institutions with access to requisite facilities, relevant modern equipment and technology that will provide students with hands-on learning experience that prepares them for real-world fibre network and digital work.   TM shall invest RM2.5 million to upgrade the facilities and equipment to selected TVET institutions and a further RM1 million in scholarships for students from the B40 group.  As a start, this will facilitate employment opportunities for close to 400 graduates per year to work within its business eco-system.   “TM is pleased to announce its commitment to the Government’s TVET Madani initiative through a comprehensive programme that will address the entire value chain. With our strong focus on skills development and industry-relevant training, TM is determined to transform lives and bridge the gap between education and employment for a digitally skilled future workforce,” said Datuk Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM.   “Across TM’s eco-system, we have over 430 fibre contractor partners, 880 vendors and over 90 TM 5G Sphere technology partners that will provide graduates close to 400 skilled job openings in the near future.   “Vocational education will continue to play a crucial role in nurturing a skilled workforce and driving Malaysia’s digital economic growth. By equipping young Malaysians with the practical knowledge and skills needed in our telco and technology sector, we aim to empower the next generation of skilled talents to pursue meaningful careers and contribute to the development of communities and the nation,” he concluded.

TM enhances young graduates employability with its TM Protégé Programme

TM PROTÉGÉ Ready to Work (RTW) programme is in line with Government’s effort to raise the employability level of graduates ​​​Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) continuously empower Malaysian graduates with its education-oriented and skill enhancement programmes. Most recently, the Company enrolled participants for its Ready to Work (RTW) programme, namely Professional Training and Education for Growing Entrepreneurs or PROTÉGÉ, in line with the Government's effort in raising the employability level of the graduates.​ This PROTÉGÉ programme or previously known as Program Skim Latihan 1Malaysia (SL1M) is under the supervision of PROTÉGÉ Secretariat and the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (MEDAC). The main objective of this programme is to improve the marketability and entrepreneurial skills of unemployed graduates, including through on-job-trainings and guidance programmes in collaboration with industry experts. It is also aimed at producing more entrepreneurs and job creators who are competitive, meet the current industry need and ready for the global market.     TM recently held an engagement session - 'Majlis Ramah Mesra TM bersama PROTÉGÉ' - with the participants of its latest TM PROTÉGÉ Programme intake at Dewan Tun Canselor, Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya. Farid Basir, Chief Human Capital Officer, TM attended the event and shared some tips and thoughts on career growth and development with the participants. Also present at the event were Norhadznita Hj Mohammad Ilham, Head Secretariat PROTÉGÉ, MEDAC, Prof. Dato' Dr Mazliham Mohd Su'ud, President of MMU, Norkhairul Wahab, Chief Executive Officer, MMU Cnergy and Badrul Hisham Bahari, Chief Executive Officer, GITN Sdn Bhd. Commenting on the PROTÉGÉ programme, Farid said, "The creation of a digitally-ready community and future-proof workforce has always been one of the pillars under the Company's Digital Malaysia aspiration. While we continue to evolve as an organisation, we have always been committed to our role towards building the nation. Through programmes like TM PROTEGE, TM aspires to empower the leaders of tomorrow with relevant skills in innovation and technology towards serving a more digital society and lifestyle, digital businesses and industry verticals, as well as digital Government. This includes nurturing a highly skilled workforce and accelerating digital adoption via on job training with industry guidance and professionals expertise. Our involvement in PROTÉGÉ reflects our staunch support towards the Government's efforts in increasing the employability of the young graduates and equipping them for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0). This is befitting our role as the national connectivity and digital infrastructure provider, empowering Malaysia's Digital Nation aspirations." Since 2011, under the SL1M programme, TM has trained 2,846 graduates. The initiative was then continued with PROTÉGÉ, which saw 140 participants selected for the first intake in February 2020. They are currently undergoing on-the-job training at TM and GITN Sdn. Bhd, a subsidiary of TM. In September 2020, the programme continues with its second intake of 169 participants who are now attending soft skills training at MMU, Cyberjaya. The eight (8) months intensive programme consists of soft skills classroom and online training for one (1) month, followed by on-job-training (OJT) for seven (7) months. There are seven (7) core soft skills modules involved including communications, technical and management skills required by the industry as well as effective work ethics. The OJT will prepare the participants with a career mindset and enable them to experience the real working environment. This second intake is expected to graduate in April 2021. Other initiatives are unifi Sales Apprentice Programme, participation in virtual career fairs, such as Talentbank Digital Career Fair, Graduan Virtual Digital Career Fair and career webinars with universities. In the near future, TM will also introduce a new graduates' trainee programme for the undergraduates. In the meantime, TM, through its education arm, MMU will continue to support the Government's aspiration towards a digital era ready workforce particularly in the fields of IT, communications and multimedia especially in the current Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) era. Since its establishment 22 years ago, MMU has produced over 60,000 graduates with high marketability, including for major players in the industry. Additionally, since its establishment in 1994, TM's foundation, Yayasan Telekom Malaysia (YTM) has awarded education sponsorship to more than 15,000 deserving students of high academic calibre to pursue their studies at government schools and universities in Malaysia and abroad, with a total sponsorship value of over RM549.5 million.
