PUTRAJAYA – Next Generation Malaysian Emergency Response Services 999 (NG MERS 999) merupakan sistem kecemasan generasi baharu negara yang dibangunkan untuk menyediakan perkhidmatan lebih pantas, tepat, moden dan inklusif.

Mula beroperasi sejak 16 November 2025, pembangunan sistem ini adalah hasil kerjasama strategik antara Kementerian Komunikasi (KK), Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) dan lima agensi kecemasan utama negara, iaitu:

  1. Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM);
  2. Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM);
  3. Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM);
  4. Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM); dan
  5. Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (Maritim Malaysia).

KKM, KK dan TM telah menerima laporan berkaitan perkhidmatan ambulans. Walaupun insiden tersebut adalah terpencil, perkara ini ditangani secara serius dan dengan kadar segera kerana setiap panggilan kecemasan melibatkan nyawa dan kesejahteraan rakyat.

Semakan teknikal oleh TM mengesahkan bahawa sistem NG MERS 999 beroperasi seperti biasa, termasuk prosedur penyaluran kes menggunakan prinsip “nearest available” bagi memastikan aset kecemasan terhampir dapat digerakkan secepat mungkin.

Bagi pihak KKM, usaha memperkukuh respons di lapangan terus dipertingkatkan melalui penambahan ambulans, penyusunan semula penugasan petugas di kawasan strategik, serta penglibatan badan sukarela seperti Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia, St. John Ambulans Malaysia dan pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) tempatan sebagai sebahagian daripada keupayaan respons kecemasan negara. Penilaian berterusan terhadap keupayaan koordinasi dan ketersediaan aset juga sedang dilaksanakan bersama agensi-agensi berkaitan.

Pada masa sama, Perkhidmatan 999 melalui panggilan suara kekal berfungsi sepenuhnya dan boleh digunakan seperti biasa.

Aplikasi SaveME999 pula berfungsi sebagai saluran tambahan, khususnya untuk pengguna yang memerlukan ciri komunikasi melalui teks, video dan multimedia, selaras dengan usaha meningkatkan keberkesanan dan keterangkuman respons kecemasan negara.

TM akan terus memperkukuh keupayaan sistem dan aplikasi NG MERS 999, termasuk perisian serta proses teknikal yang berkaitan, bagi memastikan prestasi dan pengalaman operasi yang lebih lancar untuk semua agensi kecemasan.

PETRONAS AND TM DRIVE SUCCESSFUL PRIVATE 5G NETWORK DEPLOYMENT AT PETRONAS LNG COMPLEX BINTULU

BINTULU, 9 AUGUST 2024 – Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) in collaboration with TM inaugurated a Private 5G network at the PETRONAS LNG Complex in Bintulu, Sarawak – signalling further advancements in connectivity and efficiency for the energy industry. The event was attended by Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo, Deputy Minister of Digital Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Sarawak Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Datuk Liwan Lagang, and Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB), the nation’s 5G network provider. Following the historic launch of Malaysia's first Private 5G network for enterprise at PETRONAS’ Regasification Terminal Sungai Udang (RGTSU) in 2022, the new Bintulu location is one of four of PETRONAS’ sites installed with the technology. The PETRONAS LNG Complex is one of the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants in a single location with a production capacity of 29.8 million tonnes per annum, and deployment of the 5G network is expected to improve productivity and increase operational efficiency across critical production processes. In his speech, Gobind Singh Deo emphasised the role of 5G technology in the energy sector transformation, saying, “5G is amongst the key technologies that is gaining importance in the energy sector. The technology, which offers ultra-high speed coupled with low latency communication between control hubs, production sites and vessels, helps to streamline the growing complexity in operational activities. Increased use of 5G-enabled intelligent systems such as industrial IoT, drones, robotics, extended reality (XR), and artificial intelligence (AI) enhances operational efficiency and safety. “Energy companies around the world are racing to modernise their operations, and I applaud PETRONAS, TM and DNB for taking the lead in digitalising Malaysia’s energy sector.” Meanwhile, PETRONAS Senior Vice President of LNG Assets Abang Yusuf Abang Puteh said, “PETRONAS is positioning itself at the forefront of the global technological race while meeting the evolving demands of the energy landscape. The integration of 5G with the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and automation will streamline workflows, increase productivity by automating data collection, while enhancing safety across all levels.” Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, TM’s Group CEO said, “This private 5G deployment is the next phase in TM and PETRONAS’ long-standing partnership to future-proof its businesses for a sustainable future. Leveraging on advanced technologies like AI, the Enterprise 5G application is expected to yield optimum operational efficiencies for its highly secure reliable connection, real-time monitoring and analytics as well as remote maintenance. “Furthermore, this collaboration will further catalyse digital innovation and industry adoption which are key to ensure business resiliency in the future and this intent is also aligned with TM’s aspiration of becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030,” he added. Looking ahead, PETRONAS and TM aim to explore opportunities to transform the energy industry through potentially expanding the distribution of Private 5G networks to newer sites for greater integration and efficiency.

MDEC and TM work together to deliver greater reach and impact to Malaysians in the digital economy

Both parties are collaborating on four (4) key areas of Digitally Empowered Businesses; Rural Digital Economy; Digitally Skilled Malaysians; and Digital Advocacy and Community Engagement. ​​Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) today announced a collaboration in the joint effort to further strengthen the digital readiness of Malaysia, towards realising its Digital Nation aspirations. The collaboration encompasses four (4) key areas namely, to digitally empower Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); to bolster rural digital economy; to empower Malaysians with digital skills; and to leverage on each other's strengths in running digital advocacy and community engagement programmes. More significantly, it brings the two national organisations, MDEC and TM, together moving in tandem towards delivering greater digital reach and economic impact for the shared prosperity of all Malaysians. Under the MoU, TM and MDEC will work together in matching, introducing and connecting TM with MDEC's MSME ecosystem and established partners such as Perkhidmatan eDagang Setempat (PeDAS) programme, Pusat Internet Desa (PID) and Digital Xceleration (DX), as well as TM's MSME customers to offer products and solutions in TM's identified technology pillars towards further empowering the SME fraternity. This will pave the way towards producing business and technology savvy entrepreneurs, MSMEs who will then drive economic growth. Towards empowering the rural digital economy, both organisations will explore the initiatives to further expand connectivity infrastructure that in turn, can help enable mentoring and coaching to communities on how to increase the utilisation of emerging technology to improve business operations. Both parties will also look into organising training and workshops to enhance the digital skills and competencies of identified communities as well as TM employees, while at the same time building competent graduates to increase their employability. This includes promoting the awareness on 4th Industrial Revolution (IR4.0) related skills to teachers, students and youth to equip them for the digital era. Commenting on the collaboration, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM said: "We are excited and thrilled to join hands with MDEC in this milestone effort. Both national organisations will explore common ground and embark on the best initiatives towards establishing a solid foundation for the country's Digital Economy and to elevate Malaysia into a Digital Nation. This is also in line with TM's aspirations and unique role as the enabler of Digital Malaysia." "What TM will bring to the table are our comprehensive infrastructure as well as our capabilities to reach out to not only our wide customer base but to more Malaysians nationwide, through our various touchpoints and engagement platforms.  As we continue to engage with the communities to increase their awareness on digital solutions and how it can help fulfill their needs; we are also working to provide the future digital workforce with the right skills for a digital business ecosystem. "MDEC's collaboration with TM will complement the 'Malaysia 5.0' as the new narrative for introducing emerging technologies that will focus on accelerating the growth of Malaysia's digital economy in three primary areas: empowering Malaysians with digital skills, enabling digitally-powered businesses, and driving digital investments. Predominantly, the MDEC-TM joint effort is crucial to the new 'Malaysia 5.0' digital economy which will enable greater access and connectivity that will allow the nation to realise the full potential that the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) holds for the economy. This goes to show that we are determined to surge the digital economy agenda for the many and to firmly establish Malaysia as the heart of digital ASEAN," said Datuk Wira Dr. Hj. Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff, Chairman of MDEC. In addition, the collaboration will look at potential community engagements via digital platforms for the knowledge sharing of products and solutions from both parties to address the communities' needs. With this MoU in place, MDEC and TM will leverage on each other's strengths and complement areas where each entity requires further support towards a higher purpose of realising a Digital Malaysia and the benefits that it will give to more Malaysians; ensuring that no one will be left behind in this digital era and IR4.0.
