TM One-UC Tati collaboration to enhance Terengganu’s tech research and development; enables education equity for students in the state
The Master Services Agreement (MSA) between TM & UC TATI will enable the digital transformation initiatives of this state government university college
TM One, the enterprise and public sector business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia (TM), has signed a Master Services Agreement (MSA) with University College Terengganu Advanced Technical Institute (UC TATI) to provide high speed managed data and Internet services at its Teluk Kalong Kemaman Campus and Kuala Terengganu City Campus respectively, for the benefit and use by the students, lecturers and staff.
The partnership, which includes a complete end-to-end package of both Wide Area Network and Local Area Network effectively enables wireless connectivity throughout the campuses, and is part of the Terengganu-based institution's efforts to enhance its digital research and development field, as well as delighting student experiences post pandemic.
In particular, TM One’s high-speed Internet services will support the Terengganu Big Data Institute (BDIT) located at UC TATI to conduct research and activities related to public data for the university college and the Terengganu State Government.
With this, TM One enables UC TATI to explore new digital technologies such as Cloud-Based Services, Public Data and Disaster Recovery Centres that will enhance student learning as well as potentially serve the local Government and surrounding communities.
General Manager of State Sales for TM One, Jamalullail Mohd said, “This agreement symbolises the strong partnership between TM One and UC TATI to provide next gen connectivity services for more contextual teaching and learning experiences to students. The accelerated adoption of digitisation has impacted the lives of Malaysians everywhere, with access to fast and reliable Internet services becoming a necessity in households, workplaces and learning institutions. This collaboration ensures educational equity and equal access to students from all parts of the country and we are pleased to support UC TATI in their transformation.”

Yayasan TM provides B40 students greater access to online learning with free sim cards
2,000 unifi Mobile #BEBAS SIM cards worth RM500,000 distributed to eligible students from B40 families through schools, institutions and in support of the Government’s initiatives. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) via its foundation, Yayasan TM (YTM) recently provided free internet access to school students from B40 families nationwide to facilitate their home-based teaching and learning (PDPR) during this Movement Control Order (MCO) period. The unifi Mobile #BEBAS 15GB LTE SIM cards which come with 1-year FREE internet access worth RM250 were distributed to a total of 2,000 students, bringing the total contribution value to RM500,000. These eligible students were selected by their respective schools with priorities given to B40 students who will sit for main examinations in 2021. Commenting on the initiative, Abdul Hamid Hashim, Director of YTM said, "Every student has the right to gain equal access to education. We hope our humble effort will fulfil the students' need for internet connectivity during these challenging times so they can fully participate in the online learning process. This is even more crucial as these students will sit for important examinations this year." "YTM will continue to support TM Group's role as the trusted partner in nation building, with the focus on education and human capital development towards producing the digital workforce to enable Digital Malaysia," he added. Under the initiative, 1,200 unifi Mobile #BEBAS 15GB LTE SIM cards worth RM300,000 were distributed nationwide through Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor (300 SIM cards), District Education Offices (PPD) (300 SIM cards) and 11 schools (600 SIM cards). The 11 schools are: SMK Abi, Perlis SMK Sri Muda, Pulau Pinang SMKA Sultan Azlan Shah, Perak SMK Jalan Reko, Selangor SMK Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur SMK Cedung Jaya, Pahang SMK Alor Akar, Pahang SMK Datuk Bendahara, Melaka SMK Tun Perak, Johor SMK Tengku Mizan Zainal Abidin, Terengganu SMK Matang Jaya, Sarawak In addition, YTM also contributed another 800 SIM cards worth RM200,000 to low-income groups through TM's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes in support of the Government initiatives such as Tabung CERDIK and #MYBAIKHATI. Tabung CERDIK is an initiative among the Government-Linked Companies (GLC) and the Government-Linked Investment Companies (GLIC) to help B40 students with PDPR during the pandemic. Meanwhile, #MYBAIKHATI is an initiative under the People and Economic Strategic Empowerment Programme (PEMERKASA) with a similar objective, that reaches out to students from underprivileged families through PINTAR Foundation and Pusat Internet Komuniti (PIK). Yayasan TM Future Leaders Scholarship for SPM school-leavers 2021 YTM is also calling for students who have just received their SPM 2020 results to apply for Yayasan TM Future Leaders Scholarship 2021. TM R&D wins prestigious MSC Malaysia APICTA 2018 for the innovation of Smart Safety Helmet
Places TM R&D as the Champion of Research & Development in 2018 TM Research & Development (TM R&D), the research arm and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) recently won the Cross Category: Research & Development for its innovative Smart Safety Helmet during the 19th MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Awards (MSC Malaysia APICTA) 2018 organised by the National ICT Association of Malaysia (PIKOM). Winning this prestigious award places TM R&D as the champion of Research & Development in 2018. In addition, TM R&D has been selected to represent Malaysia in the Cross Category: Research & Development at the International APICTA Awards 2018 in Guangzhou, China. Present to accept the award was Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer of TM R&D. Developed by TM R&D, Smart Safety Helmet is a data driven smart industrial or safety helmet, an Internet of Things (IoT) solution that provides live, wireless monitoring and array of sensors including accident impact and geolocation which can be used to perform various analysis towards creating a safer worksite. It sends telemetry to the cloud and processes the data for the benefit of the employer as well as the staff. It has all the safety helmet features, location tracking services, attendance, violation detection and a video camera for remote coaching and emergency observation of the workforce. This Smart Safety Helmet innovation is the first Smart Safety Helmet in Malaysia and it is now ready to be deployed for industry players across various sectors such as Oil & Gas, Construction, Chemical & Manufacturing Industry and many more. TM ONE AND SARAWAK DIGITAL ECONOMY CORPORATION (SDEC) BERHAD EXTEND COLLABORATION TO SPUR STATE’S DIGITAL ECONOMY
KUALA LUMPUR & KUCHING, 26 DECEMBER 2024 – TM One, TM’s enterprise and government sector solutions arm, and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC) have announced the next phase in their strategic partnership to elevate Sarawak’s digital economy, digital society, and government services through enhanced connectivity. The parties recently exchanged a master service agreement to expand Sarawak’s digital infrastructure, aimed at enhancing connectivity and accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies and smart services in driving the state’s digital transformation. The collaboration aligns with the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy and Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030. This collaboration includes TM One’s Metro-E solution, a flexible, secure, and high-performance bandwidth connectivity scalable to up to 10 Gbps. Its dedicated access for critical applications, proactive security monitoring and nationwide coverage addresses the service levels needed for enterprises and government agencies alike. Shazurawati Abd Karim, TM One’s Executive Vice President, said, “We are pleased to partner with SDEC in advancing Sarawak’s digital transformation.
