TM ONE LAUNCHES ITS INNOVATION LAB AND ENTERPRISE 5G LAB TO EMPOWER AND DRIVE DIGITALISATION IN THE ENTERPRISE AND GOVERNMENT SECTOR
CYBERJAYA, 20 FEBRUARY 2024 – TM One is proud to announce the launch of its Innovation Lab and Enterprise 5G Lab, designed to accelerate the realisation of ground-breaking digital services and solutions. These initiatives cater to the unique needs of Malaysia’s large enterprises and Government sector, fostering innovation and empowering digital growth opportunities for TM, its valued customers, partners and society.
Officiated by Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, both labs will serve as hubs to bring together the latest technologies, digital leaders and inspiring ideas. It provides a secure, collaborative space where TM, its customers and partners can turn ideas into tailor-made solutions, creating opportunities in today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Located at the state-of-the-art TM Digital Academy in Multimedia University, the Labs are the next in TM One’s continuous efforts to build collaborative ecosystems to drive equitable digital progress. Complementing this initiative is TM One’s 5G Sphere Partnership Programme, with partnerships with over 50 local and global entities to support the co-creation of new innovations. TM One’s Sandbox further provides a secure operational test-bed environment for these partners and customers to develop customised solutions.
Both Labs enable:
1. Immersive Engagement: Beyond showcases, organisations will experience first-hand how TM One innovates solutions and delivers expertise for their specific needs. By experiencing potential solutions in action, customers can better grasp the implications and advantages to their own operations.
2. Dialogue & Knowledge Sharing: Having initial prototypes will encourage a deeper exchange of insights by various ecosystem players including TM One’s 5G Sphere partners, and other industry experts.

TM AND SINGTEL’S NXERA BREAK GROUND FOR SUSTAINABLE, HYPER-CONNECTED DATA CENTRE CAMPUS IN JOHOR
ISKANDAR PUTERI, 25 JULY 2024 – TM and Nxera, the regional data centre arm of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit, held a groundbreaking ceremony for their data centre campus in Iskandar Puteri, Johor. The groundbreaking comes one month after the announcement for a joint venture to develop data centres in Malaysia and uplift Johor’s digital hub status. This 64MW state-of-the-art, sustainable, hyper-connected, AI-ready data centre campus reinforces Malaysia’s high quality digital infrastructure. It also supports the government's efforts to drive the digital economy and transform the country into a hub for industrial growth, AI development and innovation. Malaysia's Digital Minister YB Gobind Singh Deo; YB Lee Ting Han, Chairman, Johor State Investment, Trade, Consumer Affairs and Human Resources Committee; and Singapore's Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Culture, Community and Youth Low Yen Ling graced the groundbreaking event as the Guests-of-Honour. Minister YB Gobind said, "This investment by TM and Nxera reinforces Malaysia's position as the digital hub in Southeast Asia, further advancing the nation's economic growth. Based on advance estimates, Malaysia's economy expanded 5.8% in the second quarter of 2024, and such investments are in line with projections that Malaysia's digital economy will contribute 25.5% to the nation's GDP by the end of the year. The relationship between TM and Nxera expands to Malaysia and Singapore, with both nations being a good case study of a productive working partnership between two ASEAN member states." We would like to express our gratitude to the Johor State Executive Council, Invest Johor, Iskandar Regional Development Authority, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation and Malaysian Investment Development Authority for their support.” Scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2026, this cloud-enabled Tier 3 data centre campus will use liquid cooling to handle higher power density AI workloads. The facility will be designed, built and certified to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards, incorporating energy and water-efficient solutions to optimise the use of resources. This underscores the joint venture's commitment to long-term sustainability goals. To support the new data centre campus, the joint venture plans to expand submarine cable connectivity, enabling a thriving and vibrant digital ecosystem. Located just 16 km from Singapore, the data centre campus will allow customers to seamlessly expand their infrastructure from the city state and the rest of the region. Further, the data centre can be scaled up to 200MW in response to market demand. In addition, apart from creation of new employment opportunities that is important for nation building, the joint venture will invest in building talent for the data centre industry by fostering collaborations between universities in Singapore and Malaysia. It aims to design comprehensive courses with specialised curriculum to provide students with well-rounded knowledge and the requisite skills to propel Malaysia’s growth aspirations. For communities and the region, this means superior country-to-country connectivity and a smarter, more resilient digital economy. As announced in Bursa, this joint venture is conditional upon receiving approval from TM shareholders in the upcoming EGM.
TM receives national recognitions for its continous efforts in Energy Management
The Company walked away with four (4) recognitions at the recent National Energy Awards 2020, organised by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA). Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) was recently bestowed with multiple recognitions for its continuous commitment and best practices in energy management at the National Energy Awards 2020, organised by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA). The accolades received by TM were: Rank Category Sub-category Building Winner Category I: Energy Efficiency Energy Management (Small Building) TM Node, Skudai, Johor Bahru Runner-up Category I: Energy Efficiency Energy Management (Large Building) Menara TM, Kuala Lumpur Special Awards Institute of Higher Education Multimedia University, Melaka Special Awards Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) TM Node, Bandar Tun Razak Commenting on the achievements, Badrul Hisham Ahmad, Vice President, Support Business, TM said: "We are humbled and honoured to receive these awards and would like to thank KeTSA for recognising our continued commitment to Energy Efficiency (EE) initiatives, which is part of our overall sustainability agenda. A key way to reducing TM's carbon emissions is by lowering our overall energy consumption. As such, our facilities are supported by Energy Saving Initiatives (ESI), which describes how we can improve energy-efficiency at network and non-network buildings. We also adopt sustainable practices for emissions management that adhere to regulatory standards. We conduct regular monitoring of the air, noise and water of areas surrounding our operations. We strive to consistently comply with the environmental monitoring limits stipulated by the Department of Environment (DoE) thus ensuring that our business does not harm nearby environment and communities. We have been continuously improving on our emissions and consumption policies, objectives, targets and strategies. Additionally, we monitor and measure activities that contribute to our carbon footprint, including energy use and waste production, resulting in a 7.5% reduction in overall GHG emissions for 2019. We also recorded a 7.4% reduction in energy consumption," Badrul elaborated. The annual National Energy Awards (NEA) highlights the development of ideas and best practices in driving the country's sustainable energy sector. The award recognises the efforts of the public and private sectors in energy innovation that manifests positive impact to the nation and all Malaysians. It acknowledges the adopters of energy efficiency technology and renewable energy in driving towards Malaysia's sustainable development aspirations. It is also the Government's strategic move to promote innovation in local technology, research and development (R&D) as well as to create awareness on a broad level across the different facets of society, in line with the country's aspiration to spur energy sector as the new area for economic growth. Previously in 2019, the National Energy Awards also honoured TM for the first time as the winner for Category I: Energy Efficiency under sub-category of Energy Management (Small & Medium Building). The award recognised energy saving initiatives at Menara TM, Melaka which include upgrading of conventional lighting to LED, chillers optimisation, reuse of ablution water for watering plant and installation of motion sensor lighting, among others.
