TM Becomes the Strategic Partner for Digital Education Transformation Initiative and Launches Special unifi Mobile Plan, Exclusively for Teachers

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) today embarked on a journey to establish working synergies on Digital Education Transformation initiative, in line with the Government’s Transformasi Nasional 2050 (TN50) plan which is set to empower Malaysia’s education system through innovation and digitalisation.

This collaboration marks a steadfast effort via strategic partnership between TM and MOE to ensure effective delivery of the Digital Education Transformation programme. The collaboration will focus on four (4) main pillars namely 21st Century Teaching & Learning, Enterprise Architecture, Education Analytics and other Value Added services suitable for education.

The ceremony was graced by YB Dato’ Seri Mahdzir Khalid, Minister of Education Malaysia together with Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob, Chairman, TM, together with Datuk Dr. Amin Senin, Education Director General of MOE and Datuk Bazlan Osman, Deputy Group Chief Executive Officer, TM. 

To commemorate this collaboration, TM also introduced a special unifi Mobile plan exclusively for teachers, called “JASA Pack”. The plan which is offered at only RM59 a month for unlimited data, calls and SMS.

Commenting on the collaboration, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob said, “As the key enabler for the national communications infrastructure, and the one and only capable of providing fully integrated telecommunications, ICT and digital services, TM is proud to play its role as the strategic partner in establishing the ecosystem for MOE digital transformation programme. The transformation will also enable parents to choose cashless payment options at school. Ultimately, all data and information from all these solutions will be integrated and combined into one single platform to provide Big Data analytics.

Op Selamat to ensure a safer Raya celebration for all

TM remains committed to work closely with enforcement agencies in ensuring the welfare and well-being of the community Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM) today launched Op Selamat 18/2022 to promote a safer and joyous celebration this upcoming Hari Raya for all Malaysians nationwide. Entering into its 18th edition, this year's campaign is aptly themed "Rumah Selamat, Selamat Sampai ke Destinasi" (Safe Home, Safe Journey), with the aim of increasing public awareness on road safety and home security during festivities. Op Selamat will be running for 10 days, from 29 April until 8 May 2022. This marks the 23rd collaboration between TM and PDRM on this campaign, the last being in 2019 before the pandemic hit. This is part of the long-standing strategic partnership that TM has established with PDRM, including the MERS999 emergency hotline, the anti-telecommunications cable theft efforts, and the Secured Mobile Services platform used for enforcement operations. The campaign was launched at Menara TM by Datuk Razarudin Husain, the Deputy Inspector General of Police. He also flagged off the 'Traffic Monitoring Team' and a convoy of motorcyclists and cars, symbolically highlighting the campaign's message of road and home safety. Also present at the event were CP Datuk Wira Mat Kasim Karim, Director of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT); CP Datuk Aidi Ismail, Director of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK); Tan Sri Mohammed Azlan Hashim, Chairman of TM; Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM; senior management of TM Group, police officers of various ranks as well as officers from various government agencies such as Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia, Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia, Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM), Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO). This year, once again we continue our long-standing collaboration with PDRM on this noble effort. "The safety of road users and their homes are of utmost importance during festivities. This is the key message we want to spread to the public, and we urge everyone to stay alert on the road and vigilant at home," he added. For this year's campaign, TM is contributing various necessities for the 15 Op Selamat operation centres nationwide, including campaign advocacy and materials such as leaflets and stickers that will be distributed to road users.

TM R&D inks MoU with AL-QUDS University to foster industry-academia collaboration for research and innovation excellence in next generation communication technologies

​Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), the innovation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Quds University (AQU) to foster industry-academia collaboration for joint research in Next Generation Communication Technologies and to create an institution for innovation and technology transfer. Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer, TM R&D, signed the MoU on behalf of TM R&D while AQU was represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek. The agreement was sealed under the support and presence of H. E. Mr. Walid Abu Ali, Ambassador of The State of Palestine to Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand and Maldives. Under the MoU, both entities will join forces to explore research and knowledge exchange activities including staff exchange for scientific works and student visits, in addition to development of impactful digital solutions with a global outlook. Commenting on the latest collaboration, Dr. Sharlene said, “We are excited to have AQU on board as the first university that we’re collaborating with post COVID-19. This MoU is testament of our efforts to work with innovative and entrepreneurial academic institutions to deliver excellence in the field of research and innovation.” “The knowledge sharing and technology transfer between Malaysia and Palestine will definitely boost research capabilities and cross-cultural innovations,” she added. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek shared, “The university’s strategy encompasses building strong cooperative relationships with the Malaysian industry and academia. We believe that this is the first step towards a sustainable partnership with TM R&D, which will provide our staff and students the opportunity to access expert knowledge, latest technologies, innovation labs, and industry in Malaysia.” “We hope that this collaboration will result in a symbiotic relationship that furthers the economy, innovation, and technology transfer among both institutions,” added Prof. Dr. Imad. AQU is an academic research university that currently offers more than 120 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, delivered through its 15 degree-granting faculties that cover main scientific disciplines such as medicine, life and natural sciences, business and management, arts and humanities, law and jurisprudence, engineering, computer science, information technology, and social sciences. In addition, AQU pursues educational distinction through a culture of innovation and strives to develop entrepreneurs who are able to partake in the development of the Palestinian economy.
