TM to enhance customer experience with 2600 MHz spectrum
Accepts offer from MCMC for total applicable fee of RM37 million over five (5) years
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing customer experience, capacity and value with the 2600 MHz spectrum band acquired from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) recently.
TM accepted the offer from MCMC for a 20 MHz spectrum block of the 2600 MHz spectrum band through its subsidiary, Webe Digital Sdn. Bhd. (“webe”). The allocated block of 2575 MHz to 2595 MHz is effective from 1 July 2022, with total applicable fee of RM37 million over a period of five (5) years and according to the following components:
- Upfront fee of RM7,060,000.00
- Annual fee of RM5,984,000.00 to be paid by 15 December each year
TM’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Imri Mokhtar said that the spectrum provides substantial value and leverage to TM as a leading convergence provider. “The increased capacity will enable TM to provide seamless fixed and wireless access, and content to its retail and enterprise customers at home, office or on the move.”
“The acceptance of this spectrum offer is also aligned with our future direction in embarking into a dynamic digital space. With our strong and extensive fibre infrastructure, the spectrum will enable future expansion of telecommunication services to customers, for an end-to-end converged experience,” Imri added.
“We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia as well as MCMC for extending the spectrum allocation to TM.”
The allocation of the spectrum also allows TM to support the national agenda in delivering extensive telecommunications coverage with high service quality, especially through the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) and the Malaysian Digital Economy blueprint (MyDIGITAL).

TM announces appointment of new chairman; records highest appreciation to predecessor
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today announced the departure of Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh as Chairman of TM Board with effect on 31 July 2021 and the appointment of its new Chairman, Dato' Mohammed Azlan Hashim effective 1 August 2021. On behalf of TM Group, the Board of Directors, expressed their highest appreciation to Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh for his leadership and contribution to the TM Group during his tenure. "The entire Board, management and Warga TM would like to record our heartfelt gratitude to Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke, an exemplary role model in upholding governance and integrity and a highly respected corporate figure; who has brought his vast insights in industry and commercial to benefit the TM Group. Together with the Board, Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) and management, we have charted the next phase of growth for the company under the New TM Transformation 2021-2023, anchored on 40+ Value Programmes. PROFILE OF DATO' MOHAMMED AZLAN HASHIM Dato' Mohammed Azlan Hashim is presently a Board member of Khazanah since 1 April 2020. He is also a Board member and the Investment Panel Chairman of the EPF. He is also currently the Chairman of several public listed entities including D&O Green Technologies Berhad, Marine & General Berhad and IHH Healthcare Berhad. He has extensive working experience in the corporate sectors including financial services and investments. Among others, he served as Chief Executive of Bumiputra Merchant Bankers Berhad, Managing Director of Amanah Capital Malaysia Berhad and Executive Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Berhad. He holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, Melbourne and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Australia, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, and Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
TM reinforces commitment for employee welfare & safety; signs new Collective Agreement with NUTE for 2022-2024
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) signed its twelfth (12th) Collective Agreement (CA) last week, on 24 August 2022, with the National Union of Telecommunications Employees (NUTE) for the period of 2022-2024. Consecutively, the CA was also signed between NUTE and TM's subsidiaries, namely Telekom Sales & Services Sdn Bhd, TM Info-Media Sdn Bhd, GITN Sdn Bhd and TM R&D Sdn Bhd. About 8,000 non-executive employees in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan were covered by this CA. It includes employment enhancements for various terms and conditions, including salary adjustment and cost of living allowances among others. It is also aimed to enhance and boost employees’ productivity and work performance. Representing TM Group for the CA signing was Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer and Sarinah Abu Bakar, Chief Human Capital Officer while NUTE was represented by its President, Mohd Jafar Abd Majid, and Mohamad Farid Mohamad Daud, General Secretary of NUTE. The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Tan Sri Mohammed Azlan Hashim, Chairman of TM. “The new CA demonstrates TM’s unwavering commitment and strong industrial partnership with NUTE towards the well-being of our employees. Our people – Warga TM, is the impetus behind our achievements, they are the engine driving TM’s performance.
