Following up from the statement issued by Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) on December 19, 2021, we have since accelerated our focus on supporting the escalating needs of our customers, communities and employees impacted by the tragic event of the floods.

As of today, 85% or 84,274 of our affected customers are now back online thanks to the exhaustive efforts made by TM’s engineering and support teams, enabling the successful restoration of our core services. We will continue this rigorous service restoration exercise to ensure the remainder of our customers are able to be connected soonest.

For our affected customers, we have allocated:

  •     RM13 million to replace for free, damaged Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and network components;
  •     A waiver of two (2) weeks subscription from customer bill estimated at RM5 million; and
  •     Credit term extension to 60 days to further ease the financial burden of customers.

In the affected regions, TM has restored a majority of its impacted primary network sites. The flood had impacted more than 15 network sites and hill stations across four (4) states, due to power outages and in some areas, high water levels and severe road conditions, preventing our network team from accessing these locations.

As part of the pledges made by members of the GLC/GLIC Disaster Response Network (GDRN) currently at RM58.4 million, the TM Board has allocated RM2 million in aid of the recovery, rebuilding and flood relief efforts. TM, via Yayasan TM (YTM) is also joint chair and secretariat for GDRN. Together with YTM, partner NGOs and the Malaysian Armed and rescue Forces, we have also distributed over 3,500 care packs consisting of hot meals, dry rations and hygiene items, and COVID-19 self-test kits provided by Pharmaniaga to the flood-stricken areas in Klang Valley and Hulu Langat.

Our committed team of over 260 staff volunteers (TM Reaching Out Volunteers – TM ROVers) are currently assisting communities with the daunting task of cleaning up their homes, including 830 of our own employees whose premises have been damaged. TM will also ensure compensation via financial aid to the affected staffs, and the provision of temporary shelter at the MMU campus.

Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM said, “The immense challenges faced by fellow Malaysians during this unfortunate situation calls for corporations and businesses to come together to respond swiftly to alleviate the struggles of many, leveraging on our resources and means where possible.”

“As co-lead of the GDRN, TM is grateful to serve alongside its members in addressing the needs of those trying to rebuild their lives in the aftermath. The worse may not be over, and TM is mindful of our role to support our customers, communities and employees as we recover as a nation.”

“We appreciate the patience shown by all as we work hard to get our networks back up and running and ensure uninterrupted services in face of power shutdown and damaged equipment in some of our locations,” he added.

TM will continue to play its aid and recovery efforts towards community wellbeing. More regular update is available on TM social media channels or visit our website https://unifi.com.my/unifi-alerts for updates.

TM Demonstrates Commitment to Long-term Value Creation and Nation-Building at its 40th AGM

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 May 2025 – Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM” or “the Group”) demonstrated its firm commitment to delivering long-term value creation while enabling inclusive digital progress for the nation. TM returned approximately RM1.5 billion in value, benefiting various stakeholders through dividends and contributions that supported national socioeconomic progress. At the same time, TM prioritised strategic investments in business growth, community development, social impact programmes, and employee development, further generating a multiplier impact on the broader national economy. These efforts reflect TM’s focus on delivering sustainable returns to shareholders while staying true to its core purpose of creating value for all stakeholders as a nation-builder. “At TM, we see ourselves as facilitators of national progress, driving inclusive digital transformation that empowers enterprises, enriches communities and bolsters economic resilience. We are fully aligned with this vision - staying agile, expanding our capabilities and setting new benchmarks in service excellence to ensure that Malaysia remains at the forefront of the digital economy. This is what it means to be a world-class organisation,” said Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, Chairman of TM. This was underscored at TM’s 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held today at Multi Purpose Hall, Menara TM, Kuala Lumpur, where all 14 resolutions tabled were duly passed by shareholders. The meeting was chaired by Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, with the Board of Directors and Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, in attendance.   Empowering Communities through Digital Access and Inclusion Beyond profits, TM is committed to driving digital inclusivity for all including nurturing future-ready talent, empowering communities, and expanding inclusive digital access across the country. For example, TM is expanding its digitalisation efforts and community-building in Pulau Tioman, starting with Kampung Mukut. Similar programmes are being considered for other islands already connected through TM’s submarine cable infrastructure. TM is also committed to develop schools on these islands, with a focus on nurturing youth through STEM education and digital exposure. “Our goal is to build digital ecosystems that empower local communities, helping them shift from traditional livelihoods to sustainable, future-ready opportunities,” said Amar. These efforts are further supported by the TM Future Skills (TMFS) School Programme, where TM has created three ‘nucleus’ schools designed as regional hubs for innovation via the TMFS Digital Hub. TM also plans to onboard 25 new schools in 2025. Meanwhile, Yayasan TM has launched the Yayasan TM TVET Madani initiative to enhance the skill sets and employability of TVET graduates, while its education arm, Multimedia University (MMU) collaborates with schools nationwide to provide early exposure to STEM subjects through workshops and career guidance. At the same time, TM continues to provide tailored digital solutions to more than 400,000 MSMEs nationwide, helping them grow and thrive in the digital economy. Under its talent development agenda, TM has contributed RM641 million to date to nurture close to 19,000 talents, many of whom now contribute to the broader digital economy and are part of the leadership in corporate organisations and national institutions. “This is how we demonstrate that success and achieving higher purpose can go hand in hand,” said Amar.   Championing Sustainability and Responsible Growth Sustainability remains core to TM’s long-term strategy. The Group’s Sustainability Framework, introduced in 2024, is built on two key objectives: enabling sustainable growth for customers and communities, and ensuring resilience across the business and value chain. In its data centre operation, TM sources 50% of its data centre energy from renewable resources and implements water harvesting and recycling systems for water conservation. TM is also targeting global benchmarks with a planned Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.4 for its expansion projects, with the upcoming Johor facility, developed in collaboration with Singtel’s Nxera, targeting even lower PUE. Technologies such as intelligent cooling systems, solar panels and energy-efficient servers further reduce environmental impact and operational costs, ensuring TM’s growth aligns with global sustainability objectives. TM’s commitment to sustainable practices was recognised at multiple awards in 2024, including the Gold Award for its Smart Forestry AI tool under the Environment & Natural Resources Sub-Category: Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in the MTE 2024 SDG International Innovation Awards. This recognition affirms the Group’s leadership in sustainability, aligned with Malaysia’s environmental goals and net-zero ambitions. “We believe sustainability is fundamental, not just an afterthought. Our goal is to grow responsibly, delivering technology that benefits both the economy and the environment,” said Amar.   Strategic Execution for Long-term Value Creation 2024 marked the first full year of implementation of its PWR 2030 strategy, which is the Group’s roadmap to becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030 and positioning Malaysia as the digital hub for ASEAN. “This phase is about solidifying our foundation to protect the existing core business to better position us in capitalising emerging opportunities such as hyperconnected data centres, AI and GPU-as-a-Service which are among the new growth areas for TM,” said Amar. During the year, TM made significant progress in strengthening its core businesses across B2B, B2C and C2C amidst intensified market competition. Key milestones include strengthening the convergence proposition, advancing digital solutions such as smart services, cloud, cybersecurity, as well as enhancing digital infrastructure such as domestic fibre network, mobile backhaul to support 5G, submarine cable systems and data centres. These strategic developments reinforce TM’s commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital future while uplifting the broader ecosystem, with Warga TM continuing to be the driving force behind the Group’s growth and success. As TM continues its journey, the Group remains focused on delivering long-term value creation while creating meaningful impact for the nation. “TM is not merely a provider of technological infrastructure, but as an essential enabler and catalyst for a vibrant digital ecosystem, connecting Malaysia to the world and the world to Malaysia. As we move forward into the next phase of our journey, every initiative we undertake moves us closer to becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, one that drives national progress, fosters innovation and ensures Malaysia remains at the forefront of the global digital economy,” said Amar, concluding his presentation at the TM’s 40th AGM.

TM’S PAKEJ PERPADUAN JALUR LEBAR TETAP (HOME INTERNET) AIMS TO DRIVE DIGITAL INCLUSIVITY FOR MALAYSIANS

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has today announced the launch of its Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap (Home Internet) for underserved communities in Malaysia, in response to the challenges faced by these key communities in the digital age. The offering is aligned with the Ministry of Communications and Digital’s efforts to address concerns of underserved Malaysians from the B40, the elderly, OKU, and army-police veterans in accessing reliable and affordable internet services.   Following Minister of Communications and Digital, YB Fahmi Fadzil’s announcement today during the launching ceremony in Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani, Kedah, Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap is now available for subscription nationwide. This collaboration between TM and the Government demonstrates the shared commitment to deliver digital inclusivity throughout Malaysia.   Underserved communities often experience adversity in accessing the benefits of the digital world and uninterrupted connectivity. Students from low-income households, for example, face challenges in accessing online learning platforms, while job seekers may struggle to find employment opportunities or even in starting up small e-Commerce businesses to support their livelihoods. Additionally, a lack of access to digital services and information can limit options for essential services, such as healthcare and Government services. Via this offering, TM seeks to bridge the digital divide through hyperconnectivity and empower these communities with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in the digital age.   “As a conscientious corporate entity, TM has a social responsibility to create a meaningful impact on the community. Unifi’s fixed broadband services will be available at a more affordable rate, ensuring that more Malaysians have access to reliable internet connectivity. This will not only enhance their online experience but also enable them to participate in the digital economy, which is crucial for the country's economic growth,” said Tengku Muneer Tengku Muzani, TM’s Chief Corporate and Regulatory Officer.   “Access to good connectivity will enable greater access to education and job opportunities, as well as information and services that are increasingly being delivered online. It will also allow individuals to stay connected with their loved ones, regardless of physical distance. Furthermore, it will provide a platform for underserved communities to voice their concerns and engage in broader societal discourse.”   “TM stands as the foremost provider of fixed broadband services in Malaysia, delivering superior connectivity and services, bridging the digital divide. As a Public Listed Company (PLC) and Government-Linked Company (GLC), TM is uniquely positioned to balance the interests of its stakeholders, ensuring commercial sustainability while enabling digital inclusivity and driving national development initiatives. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, TM remains dedicated to delivering the best broadband experience and driving a Digital Malaysia. We remain committed to providing innovative solutions and services that cater to the evolving needs of all Malaysians. We believe that everyone should have equal access to the benefits of the digital world, and are proud to be at the forefront of this effort,” added Muneer.   Unifi’s Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap offers an unlimited fixed broadband package at RM69 with savings of RM480 across 24-months, for all new and existing Unifi customers from those key target segments. Registration is open until 31 December 2023 for all eligible subscribers, but will be limited to only one (1) package per person.   Earlier in March, TM also announced Pakej Perpaduan Prabayar Mudah Alih (Prepaid Mobile) and together, these services will enable ubiquitous connectivity and reinforces TM’s fixed-mobile convergence leadership, offering integrated fixed broadband, mobile services, and digital content to more Malaysians. Both of these offerings will be provided through Unifi Home and Unifi Mobile respectively.   “The benefits of this initiative are manifold, and we hope to better empower underserved communities and give them access to the resources and opportunities that the internet has to offer. This initiative is a testament of our commitment to social responsibility and in creating a more connected world. It also speaks to our vision of becoming a human-centred TechCo, leveraging technologies to provide equal opportunities for every Malaysian. Through our role in digital nation building, we are committed to serving the nation’s interest more directly and to bring greater impact to our diverse communities,” concluded Muneer.   For more information on Unifi’s Pakej Perpaduan Jalur Lebar Tetap, visit the Unifi portal at unifi.com.my or any TMpoint outlets nationwide.
