Amidst challenging environment, the Company remained resilient and paved its way forward with ‘New TM’ transformation to set the Company on a sustainable growth trajectory

Telekom Malaysia Berhad Group of Companies (TM Group) today concluded its 36th Annual General Meeting (36th AGM) with all 12 Ordinary Resolutions tabled duly approved by its shareholders. The Meeting, conducted via online for the 2nd consecutive year in view of the Movement Control Order (MCO), saw virtual participation by more than 1,000 shareholders.

Commenting on the proceedings, Tan Sri Dato' Seri Mohd Bakke Salleh, Chairman of TM said: "We are very pleased that TM once again was able to conduct its AGM virtually and engage with our shareholders without being physically present at the meeting venue. This reflects our commitment towards ensuring the safety and health of our shareholders as well as stakeholders by complying with the guidelines set by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), National Security Council (NSC) and Ministry of Health (MoH)."

Also participating in the online AGM was Imri Mokhtar, Managing Director / Group Chief Executive Officer, TM as well as other members of the TM Board. Razidan Ghazalli, Group Chief Financial Officer, TM was also present.

"Amidst the market and pandemic challenges, we remained resilient and recorded an improvement in our 2020 performance, as our cost optimisation initiatives continue to drive profitability. Building on current momentum, we have embarked on the next phase of our exciting journey with the 'New TM' Transformation Programme. Guided by our compass of Purpose, Customers, Performance and People, we will focus on Connectivity Excellence, Solutions Excellence and Customer Experience Excellence to set us apart from the competition," added Tan Sri Dato' Seri Bakke.

The 'New TM' transformation is anchored on 40+ Value Programmes, driven by a dedicated Transformation Office; with a new cadence towards a higher execution tempo, which is already showing early traction. TM is also reshaping its workforce into a stronger execution engine, embracing a more agile work culture with future-ready skills.

This will set TM on a sustainable growth trajectory, to create shareholder value and continuously enable a more Digital Malaysia. TM, in its role of enabling Digital Malaysia, is ready to support the Government's digitalisation agenda, particularly the Jalinan Digital Negara (JENDELA) and the comprehensive Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint – MyDIGITAL as well as other Government's digital and stimulus plans, towards accelerating the socio-economic recovery and fast-track the nation into a technologically-advanced economy by 2030.

TM is well positioned to play a significant role in MyDIGITAL – focusing on digital connectivity (fibre, 5G, international connectivity), digital infrastructure (Cloud, Data Centre and Cybersecurity) as well as digital skillsets and talents (via Multimedia University and TM Digital Academy). The Company was also appointed as the sole Malaysian Cloud Service Provider (CSP) under MyDIGITAL, at par with the other global players.

TM believes that such public and private collaboration will propel the country towards a full-fledged Digital Malaysia by 2030 – a more digital society, digital business, digital industry and digital Government.

Despite the MCO, TM was able to publish a fully Integrated Annual and Sustainability Report (IAR) for this year. The theme of this year's IAR is "Reach Further", a reflection of the ripple effect brought about by the report cover. The idea is to inspire Malaysians to go further in pursuing their dreams through Digital Malaysia, as reflected through the visuals in the separators of a Digital Society, Digital Businesses and Digital Government presented in the book. This theme and narrative are carried consistently from our report cover, separators and throughout the strategic narrative of the report.

TM’s commitment to combat corruption and reinforcement of integrity as organisational DNA

Organised annual TM Integrity Day 2022, in collaboration with MACC, SIRIM, PDRM, IIM, TI-M and others TM adopts the highest level of integrity and ethics that uphold the standard of its employees’ behaviour and conduct by championing high integrity and anti-corruption practices in its working environment. It reflects TM’s commitment in adhering to good corporate governance and fulfilling its responsibilities towards investors and other stakeholders. This is maintained through rigorous awareness, internalisation and enforcement efforts guided by its ethics and integrity policies. To demonstrate its commitment and continuous effort to upholding high integrity, governance, and transparency in its business operations, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), has organised its annual TM Integrity Day 2022 (TMID) on 1 November 2022, in conjunction with the National Integrity Day which is observed every November. The many highlights of TMID included MS ISO 37001:2016 certification handover by SIRIM, recitation of the corruption-free pledge followed by a forum entitled, “Uncompromising Integrity”. The TMID 2022 was launched by Datuk Seri TKPj. Norazlan Mohd Razali, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), witnessed by Tan Sri Mohammed Azlan Hashim, Chairman of TM Group and Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM. Also present were Datuk Ir. (Dr) Khairol Anuar Tawi,​​Chairman SIRIM QAS International Sdn Bhd, while Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Chief Executive Officer of Malaysian Institute of Integrity (IIM), and Dato’ Allaudeen Abdul Majid, Deputy Director, Department of Integrity and Standard Compliance (JIPS) PDRM attended as panelists for the forum, moderated by Dr. Muhammad Mohan, President of Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M). TM’s proprietary Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) 2021–2025 launched last year, was developed to closely align with the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023 geared towards improving transparency, and embedding the principles of integrity, good governance, compliance, and accountability in ensuring governance in the public and corporate sectors in Malaysia. TM OACP is one of the policies developed in tandem with Section 17A of the MACC Act 2009, in accordance with the standards set by IIM. “At TM, "Uncompromising Integrity" is one of the corporate values that must be embraced by every TM employee to fulfill our responsibilities to all stakeholders. We take any misconduct that involves integrity in this organisation very seriously,” said Tan Sri Mohammed Azlan. “I hope that all TM employees and Business Partners will continue to carry out the best duties and responsibilities to the company in the effort of TM to drive the aspirations of Digital Malaysia,” he added. “Our OACP is a 5-year plan to further strengthen TM’s existing ethics and integrity ecosystem among Warga TM, business partners, vendors and suppliers. The OACP clearly defines the focus areas and strategic initiatives to mitigate corruption, integrity and governance risks. It is the duty of every TM employee and business partners to act in the best interest of TM and maintaining the highest degree of integrity, transparency, and accountability,” he further commented. At the event, Imri led the citation of the corruption-free pledge together with Tan Sri Azlan, TM Board of Directors, Senior Management, Business Partners and all Warga TM nationwide in the presence of Datuk Seri TKPj. Norazlan. The pledge is an oath voluntarily taken by TM’s leadership and its employees proclaiming their commitment to carrying out their duties with transparency, responsibility and accountability. Good governance rests with the people. As TM evolves into a human centred TechCo, Warga TM must be empowered in upholding the company values. TM’s company-wide efforts to instill a high level of integrity amongst Warga TM began in 2002 by establishing various policies and guidelines such as TM OACP, certified Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) for high-risk divisions, TM Code of Conduct & Business Ethics, Whistle Blowing Policy, Anti-Corruption Guidelines, Ethics Hotline and several others to infuse transparency, accountability and responsibility amongst its employees and Business Partners.

unifi TV service disruption nationwide, service estimated to resume later this evening

​At approximately 9:50pm on 3 January 2022, unifi TV services experienced service disruption nationwide due to impact to the power system triggered by a fire that affected the “Uninterruptible Power Supply” (UPS) equipment at TM IT Complex in Cyberjaya. The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (Bomba) took control of the situation to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of the premises. We have received the necessary building assessment and clearance from Bomba at 4.00am. The building block was not in full operation at the time, with only a small number of employees on site.  There have been no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and TM will fully cooperate with any investigation as required by authorities. An immediate announcement has been released on TM’s social media channels to notify our affected customers and we have since ramped up our customer service engagements to attend to calls and enquiries. This incident has caused unifi TV service interruptions affecting close to 300,000 of our unifi TV viewers. Other TM and unifi services are not affected. We are working tirelessly with our contractors and engineering teams to ensure that services are being restored gradually, with power restoration expected to be completed by 12 noon today. unifi TV is estimated to resume its services by 3.00pm today. However, TMpoint Cyberjaya will remain closed temporarily due to low power supply. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our customers, and will continue to prioritise the safety and well-being of our employees and contractors during this restoration process. Kuala Lumpur, 5 December 2023 – TM Global, the wholesale domestic and international business arm of TM, secured a prestigious accolade at this year's W.Media Asia Pacific Cloud & Datacenter Awards, for its Edge Facilities project aptly titled 'Delivering the Edge'. Effectively meeting the global demand for decentralised data hosting via co-location, this achievement solidifies TM Global's commitment to enhance the country’s digital ecosystem and position Malaysia as a trusted digital hub for the Southeast Asian region.
