TM inculcates creativity and interest in science among students
Science made easier with TM Nano Maker Kit

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) under its Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiatives, recently collaborated with its partner, Creative Minds - a company specialised in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects – to conduct a programme called TM Nano Maker Kit, involving several schools around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
This innovation-oriented programme is an initiative by TM to inculcate interests in science and technology among the students. The programme also marked its continued commitment in promoting education exc ellence and empowering the learning of STEM in the classroom.
Commenting on the programme, Izad Ismail, Head of Corporate Responsibility & External Stakeholder Management, Group Brand and Communication, TM said, “This programme requires students to innovate and create activities related to science and technology. Students in all the 10 participating schools around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor were indeed very creative. They have the potential and capabilities to innovate but they need proper guidance to express the innovation. We hope that the training and learning process shared with them during this programme will encourage them to be even more creative and excel in Science and Technology subjects.”
TM Nano Maker Kit programme provides a platform for the students to collect and analyse experimental data conducted in Physic and Mathematics. TM Nano Maker Kit also aimed to boost the students' abilities through hands-on activities which involve the usage of a technology known as ‘Data Logging’ to collect real-time data for the students to analyse. There are many parameters and types of data that can be tested using the TM Nano Maker Kit, including temperature, altitude, speed, weather, acceleration, pressure, light intensity and magnetic fields.
The TM Nano Maker Kit saw participation of more than 300 students from 10 schools around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The schools involved, which served as the pilot group were SMK Dato’ Onn, SM Sains Banting, SMK Keramat Wangsa, SMK Batu Laut, SMK Bandar Tasik Selatan, SMK Bandar Seri Putra, SMK Bukit Kucing Tengah, SMK Saujana Impian, SMK Dengkil and MRSM Sungai Besar.

New digital platform for Bangsa Johor towards achieving the State’s aspiration of ‘Membina Dekad Baharu’ TM ONE, the enterprise and public sector business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) Group, today officially unveiled Johor Application Solution and Services Hub (JASS) smart application towards realising the State Government’s Johor 4.0 initiatives. Johor 4.0 is the State Government’s initiative to position Johor as the southern economic powerhouse. It is set to spearhead its digital economy through digitalisation of the State Government and services it offers, as well as the citizens of Johor. TM, through TM ONE, and Digital Johor Sdn Bhd (DJSB) a State-based company, have collaborated to develop the JASS smart application hub which is set to empower Johor 4.0 initiatives via eight (8) strategic thrusts of Digitalising Bangsa Johor encompassing: • Intelligent Johor – Data Driven Digital Economy • Integrated Intelligent Digital Network & Mobility Infrastructure, • Unified Service Delivery Platform to Rakyat & Tourists, • Trusted & Efficient State Government seen by Private Sector & Rakyat, • Digital Johor Lifestyle – Digital-on-Things (IoT & 4th Industrial Revolution – 4IR), • Digital Johor Halal Hub, • Digital Johor Agropolitan, and • Digital Johor Innovation X-Celerator. Commenting on the latest collaboration, Azizi A Hadi said, “We are indeed very pleased with the introduction of the JASS application hub as a single platform for the citizens of Johor to look for essential applications to support the digital lifestyle. As the only enabler for businesses and public sector to realise full potential of digital opportunities, this collaboration also provides the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities and expertise to deliver customised and innovative product and services that are well suited for our customer’s journey towards their digital transformation.” With JASS, the communities in Johor will be able to easily access mobile applications that will enhance their lives from a single hub, true to TM’s promise of “Life Made Easier”. It will serve as a platform to enable a digitalised lifestyle, as well as to accelerate the dissemination of information, new services and initiatives for the rakyat of Johor. As a start, JASS features five (5) key categories encompassing utilities, local services, federal services, transportation and finance services. Several other categories and features will be added in stages to enable the rakyat of Johor fully embrace a digital lifestyle. “This collaboration does not only reflect TM’s support in making Johor a data-driven state to accelerate its economic growth towards becoming a regional and global business hub. 68 excellent YTM scholars honoured at ’Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik’
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) via its foundation Yayasan Telekom Malaysia (YTM) recently recognised 68 outstanding graduates under its scholarship programme who have completed their studies at various levels from local as well as overseas universities at ’Majlis Anugerah Kecemerlangan Akademik 2018’. 16 of the graduates completed their studies with flying colours when they achieved first class honours in their respective courses. Meanwhile, TM’s university, Multimedia University (MMU), produced 44 graduates from the overall total, of which 12 graduated with first class honours. The awards were presented by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob, Chairman of TM who is also the Chairman of YTM and Dato’ Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly, Managing Director / Group Chief Executive Officer, TM in a ceremony held at TM Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur. Also present at the ceremony were Nor Suhaimi Sulong, Acting Chief Human Capital Officer, TM, Abdul Hamid Hashim, Director of YTM and YTM Board of Trustees.
