TM set to empower educational institution in Penang with dedicated premium network connectivity and smart school system solution
Smart collaboration with Wesley Methodist School Penang International elevates the institution to become the 1st school in Malaysia with an integrated digital lifestyle
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) via its business solutions arm, TM ONE recently signed a Collaboration Agreement with Wesley Methodist School Penang (International) (WMSP(I)) for the deployment and provisioning of TM’s dedicated premium network connectivity namely DOME service. Under the collaboration, TM will also be provisioning TM’s smart school system solution to the school and the total solution includes the School Management System (SMS), Learning Management System (LMS) and School Attendance System (SAS).
Kelvin Lee Tsuan Chin, State General Manager of TM Penang and Badrul Hisham Besri, Senior Director - Education & Healthcare, TM ONE signed the Collaboration Agreement on behalf of TM while WMSPI was represented by Dato’ Chin Lean Keat, Chairman of WMSP(I) Board of Management, and Dato’ Jerry Chan Fook Sing, Co-chairman of WMSP(I) Building Committee Task Force. Y.A.B Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang graced the event and witnessed the signing ceremony between both parties.
Commenting on the collaboration, Kelvin Lee said, “We are pleased that TM via its business solutions arm, TM ONE is involved in the deployment of converged telecommunications and smart school system solution at WMSP(I). The innovative digital solutions will fully enable the students, teachers and school administrators embrace education at its fullest, especially in this digital era. Amongst the technologies demonstrated was VRAR (virtual reality/augmented reality) using a Microsoft HoloLens device, which utilises mixed-reality experiences with 3D data processing, analytics, visualisation, and simulation applications. This technology aims to humanise the diagnosis and treatment identification process and will improve the productivity of healthcare personnel by accelerating their time-to-diagnosis, surgical accuracy and reduce time-to-care which will result in improving overall patient experience. TM One also showcased a virtual medical consultation solution powered by REMEDi, a digital healthcare technology developer. Through high-speed, low-latency 5G, the solution will provide enhanced video images and sound quality for safer diagnosis of patients and effective troubleshooting. In addition, this solution can be conveniently deployed anywhere, matching the current shift towards online examinations and telemedicine. Speaking about the event, Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh, President of APHM said, “The 5G in Healthcare Symposium was a great platform for our partners, TM One and Siemens Healthineers to demonstrate the future of Malaysia’s private healthcare, providing a guide on how to transform hospitals by leveraging 5G. TM One teams up with sap to become first local hyperscaler for partner managed cloud
This collaboration is aimed at empowering enterprise digitalisation to drive and support MyDIGITAL aspirations towards a technologically advanced economy via SAP and TM One’s Cloud infrastructure TM One, the enterprise and public sector business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and SAP Malaysia Sdn Bhd (SAP), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for a strategic collaboration to accelerate the digital transformation of Malaysian enterprises and to improve their operating efficiency through digital solutions. The event also announced the appointment of TM One as the first local hyperscaler to become the Partner Managed Cloud (PMC) provider for SAP business suite solutions in Malaysia. With this appointment, TM One's α Edge (pronounced as Alpha Edge) will provide cloud infrastructure to empower SAP's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions in meeting the business needs of TM One's enterprise customers.
