TM set to empower educational institution in Penang with dedicated premium network connectivity and smart school system solution
Smart collaboration with Wesley Methodist School Penang International elevates the institution to become the 1st school in Malaysia with an integrated digital lifestyle
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) via its business solutions arm, TM ONE recently signed a Collaboration Agreement with Wesley Methodist School Penang (International) (WMSP(I)) for the deployment and provisioning of TM’s dedicated premium network connectivity namely DOME service. Under the collaboration, TM will also be provisioning TM’s smart school system solution to the school and the total solution includes the School Management System (SMS), Learning Management System (LMS) and School Attendance System (SAS).
Kelvin Lee Tsuan Chin, State General Manager of TM Penang and Badrul Hisham Besri, Senior Director - Education & Healthcare, TM ONE signed the Collaboration Agreement on behalf of TM while WMSPI was represented by Dato’ Chin Lean Keat, Chairman of WMSP(I) Board of Management, and Dato’ Jerry Chan Fook Sing, Co-chairman of WMSP(I) Building Committee Task Force. Y.A.B Chow Kon Yeow, Chief Minister of Penang graced the event and witnessed the signing ceremony between both parties.
Commenting on the collaboration, Kelvin Lee said, “We are pleased that TM via its business solutions arm, TM ONE is involved in the deployment of converged telecommunications and smart school system solution at WMSP(I). The innovative digital solutions will fully enable the students, teachers and school administrators embrace education at its fullest, especially in this digital era. In addition, this collaboration with WMSPI will not only boost and accelerate the school’s digital transformation journey, but will also provide TM ONE the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities in the provision of converged communications services and solutions as part of our commitment in nation building, true to our brand promise of “Life Made Easier”.”

TM One and UMW sign Memorandum of Intent to embark on co-development of digital solutions for industries in Malaysia
TM One, the business solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (UMW) today signed a Memorandum of Intent (MoI) on a strategic partnership to develop digital solutions aimed at enhancing and empowering Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) requirements for industries in Malaysia, making it more productive, agile and future-ready. The MoI was signed by Badrul Feisal bin Abdul Rahim, President & Group Chief Executive Officer, UMW Holdings Berhad on behalf of UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd. and Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar bin Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM representing TM One. Also present to witness the ceremony was Tan Sri Dato' Sri Hamad Kama Piah bin Che Othman, Group Chairman, UMW Holdings Berhad and Rosli bin Man, Chairman, TM. Innovating Malaysia's healthcare through 5G and digital solutions

Collaborating with Siemens Healthineers Malaysia, TM One shared its vision at the inaugural 5G in Healthcare Symposium, organised by the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM), where they showcased next-level innovations for the healthcare system, made possible by 5G connectivity. This gathering of healthcare providers highlighted the multiple benefits gained from digital transformation in the sector, including enhanced patient care and operational efficiencies, among others. The digitalisation of this essential sector has also proven to be particularly timely and effective in delivering health care during and post pandemic. Shazurawati Abd Karim, Executive Vice President of TM One explained the significance of 5G to Malaysian healthcare, stating that: “5G will positively impact the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), and enable life-saving medical innovations that reflect the needs of a post pandemic society. This includes remote medical learning and remote patient monitoring, among others. Amongst the technologies demonstrated was VRAR (virtual reality/augmented reality) using a Microsoft HoloLens device, which utilises mixed-reality experiences with 3D data processing, analytics, visualisation, and simulation applications. This technology aims to humanise the diagnosis and treatment identification process and will improve the productivity of healthcare personnel by accelerating their time-to-diagnosis, surgical accuracy and reduce time-to-care which will result in improving overall patient experience. TM One also showcased a virtual medical consultation solution powered by REMEDi, a digital healthcare technology developer. Through high-speed, low-latency 5G, the solution will provide enhanced video images and sound quality for safer diagnosis of patients and effective troubleshooting. In addition, this solution can be conveniently deployed anywhere, matching the current shift towards online examinations and telemedicine. Speaking about the event, Datuk Dr Kuljit Singh, President of APHM said, “The 5G in Healthcare Symposium was a great platform for our partners, TM One and Siemens Healthineers to demonstrate the future of Malaysia’s private healthcare, providing a guide on how to transform hospitals by leveraging 5G.
